Is it just me or does anyone else get the impression that Tobes and Astroturfnaut do not see eye to eye and may not be BFF's

It was posited in the pub at some point that they are in fact the same person with a split personality, arguing with themselves. No-one has seen them in a room together yet.

  11. TBF, he is. Well, as much as he is neutral when Everton face Man City and Liverpool have a chance of winning the league <whistle>

You are a complete tosser. You haven't the ability to follow a logical argument and therefore make stupid generalisations and present them as accepted fact. As an organisation, United are trading on past glories as the biggest club in the world. That they are now experiencing a period of corporate decline is unquestionable. Just show me another commercial organisation that has successfully sustained the Number One position in their industry and then look at where those who held that position are now in the pecking order. Then look at any of the major papers tracking the symbols of their decline and you will find similarities to the position that United find themselves in.

So its more than just slightly "f**ing hilarious" that somebody who claims to be an executive and hold 'executive' qualifications is totally unaware of United's precarious corporate position.

    Just to be nice

    1. Utd are like apple. They've lost a generational leader and the focal inspiration so they went in the toilet so at least they can look forward to rehiring ferguson to regain thier coolness

    2. Dave please don't waste your time as no cogent argument matters here. If tobes is on the wind up you may as well be saying blah blah blah. I'd not take it too seriously

Firstly, if you can't see that a kopite accusing anyone of 'living on past glories' would be amusing to non-kopites given your collective propensity to do exactly that, then you're both myopic and humourless.

However, given the rest of that post, I'll give you a considered reply old stager.

Your problem is, that you take your own skewed view on an issue and translate it into supposed 'fact', based solely on your text book strategy lead mindset.

You decide you're correct and then decry the view of anyone else, calling them idiots and of limited intelligence, blah, blah, ad infinitum.

However, in reaching your conclusions there's usually one common denominator in your appraisal of a situation - a total lack of actual facts!

You're either too lazy (or more likely), too damned arrogant to bother yourself with actually attempting to validate your latest proclamation with some tangible facts, that offer even a crumb of support for your latest bulls**t offering. This one being no exception.

United posted a record turnover in the last full financial year of £363m. Their commerical revenues increased nearly 30%, their sponsorship revenue increased by 44% and this resulted in a net profit of £146m. They had £94m cash at hand and they'd reduced their debt by nearly £50m in the fiscal year.

An organisation in crisis, living of it's past glories? Actually no, a club with the 3rd highest equity value on the planet and the 4th highest turnover and one that had extended its' commercial activity, revenues and annual profit during a period of supposed 'decline'.

United patently need to address their on pitch performance, but 1 year of relative failure has cost them their CL revenue for this season, but has had no tangible impact on their business model at all. So as it stands i.e. in reality, as opposed to some wishful thinking in your bitter imagination, there's no 'corporate decline', in fact their share price in the US hit its record level in July and their equity value sits at nearly $3BN

As for your point about long term corporate sustainability in the wider context of business, there are numerous blue chip organisations that have maintained their place in the upper echelons over decades, in numerous different fields.

Unlike you old boy, I'm capable of practising what I preach and delivering sustainable growth yr on yr in the real World, and am not merely some snake oil salesman 'consultant' who peddled magic beans, in an era when the corporate sector knew no better........

If you ever want your team to lose because it may or may not impact your rivals (in this case it didn't make a difference)- you're more an anti-fan of the other team than you are of the team you support.

I fully admit to being like that with F1 a number of years ago, so not criticising. I was more interested in Schumacher losing than anyone else winning.

It's OK Tobes, it just means you care more about what happens to Liverpool than Everton, or any other club.
