Vydra limping heavily as the players go off. Doubtful for Saturday.

BS stomps off down the tunnel and doesn't look happy.

Good win this - a gritty if not sparkling performance - and another clean sheet

This thread is bigger than all Rotherhams postings added together. Where do they go to do their internet postings?

So, what was all that about? John Marks and Holdsworth on 3 Counties were certain that was a public show of dissent by Dyer against the manager. The W.O. report alludes to "unhappy players" . We should be enjoying a good away win, but instead we are speculating on dressing room divisions and asking "has the manager lost the plot"? The team selection was indeed a bit of a surprise, especially in midfield. Was Sannino punishing players he felt had underperformed against Norwich? Resting some ahead of the Leeds game? Selecting a team he thought best for the kind of problems Rotherham might present? We can all theorise and maybe the Dyer episode will prove to be a storm in a teacup. The next three games are all winnable-- let us hope that we win them in style, with different players making a contribution. The manager will make himself immune from dissent by players and criticism by fans if that can be achieved. I doubt the W.O will say much on this, not wanting to be accused of "stirring", but if Sannino holds a press conference , maybe they can ask a few questions. Give him the chance to show his authority. An important moment for Beppe.

Sannino claims he didn't see Dyer's celebration and says it was normal in interview.
Also says he needed to pick different players because of tiredness from Saturday and the problems he expected from Rotherham

    "Interesting" game.....

We looked to to have little idea for much of the first two thirds of the game.

Paredes looked wayward at times and we spent long periods defending against a largely ineffectual Rotherham... with no sign of a WFC midfield.... our forwards were left with little to draw anything from.

Come the substitutions, which were derided by some Watford fans around me who were turning quite abusive..there were calls for FF and Abdi.. and I don't know what plan the manager had... but it all seemed to change. We came forward down the wings we did little deft passes and scored two good goals from close quarters. I was impressed with the options that Dyer and Ighalo gave us.... strength up front.. given that Vydra did not get a look in tonight and Deeney was left with much to do on his own.

I did not see any dissent.... but Dyer was behaving oddly after he scored.....

I am bemused by BS's tactics and hope someone can illuminate me.... clearly they worked in relation to the substitutions.. but up to that point I thought we were very poor with no flair or creative edge.

Perhaps w_y who I chatted to at half-time, or anyone else who saw the game, can make sense of it for me.

    BUT ...... WE WON :)

    ......

    Rotherham manager Steve Evans:

"We were terrific against a top-class side who I think will win promotion. (Yorkie  )

"We have given them a hiding but they have gone with the points. For 75 minutes we were far the better side, but they have taken a couple of chances."

Texted with a mate who went who was too busy celebrating the goal to notice the hoo ha. Apparently it was a "ridiculous little ref"

    No change there then.

Yorkie - do you think we won despite the manager?

I read an article about a week ago about how Sannino likes to squeeze the midfield with forwards & midfielders all pushing in there before breaking fast. Apparently the way his idol manager at AC Milan played many years ago. Maybe it works away from home? But players don't yet believe in the tactics? Supposidly leaves defenders in no man's land. Whether to stay in position marking nobody or move into the congested area and risk being caught out of position.

That does make some sense Chris.... as he seemed to be putting more people in midfield when he substituted leaving Deeney on his own..... but then we did start breaking and moving forward with speed..... so yes that could be part of it.

For me the jury's out on Beppe and I don't think he has the dressing room either. When Dyer scored he was more interested in making a point to Sannino then celebrating in front of the fans. Hopefully a few wins under our belts and any discord will be forgotten!

Odd team selection, odd formation choice (4231?) and odd substitutions by Sannino but 3 points against a well drilled, aggressive side. Special mention to Fabrinni and Hoban who were excellent. Roll on Leeds.

From this W.O. Article Dyer said "During my career I am a man that does his talking on the pitch. I don’t want to be in the limelight, it’s not my style at all."

So there you go, he only does his talking on the pitch! hahaahhaah

Good win, see how many teams come away from there with a 0-2 win. I'll take that and see how the team play Sat, time to play as a squad now.

Against Norwich we were lacking the type of midfielder on the pitch to hold them off for 90 mins whilst against Rotherham Sannino picked 2 players capable of battling a typical aggressive championship side away from home and it worked.
Apart from tiredness the player combination suited the situation last night; the only issue was picking Fabrinni in front of Dyer in that formation but you can't argue with the impact of the subs.
All in all Saninno did what is needed away from home to get a result even if he hasn't got a completely happy squad - an almost impossible task I think.
Hoban should have a big mention in despatches and if he continues like that will be hard to dislodge.
3 clean sheets out of 4 so far is a good sign for the future with mitigating circumstances for the 3-0 loss last Saturday.

Fabrinni was getting a lot of abuse from some tw@ts behind me

Hoban got a lot of applause etc for his play during the game.

:emoticon-0111-blush I didn't have a programme and no one around me did.... so I didn't work out who our no 14 was until I got home :emoticon-0111-blush

Did he display public shows of disappointment on the pitch?

Whilst its probably not a bad thing that Dyer wants to play and maybe expected to its a little unsettling to see an experienced guy react as he did after scoring.

Sure a word in private would have been better.

Dyer proved a point by scoring anyway!

Sannino himself seems to have said we have too big a squad - well we could play 11 midfielders!

Sounds like we got the 3 points without being very good - no bad thing I guess.

Maybe a sign to Bepe though that rotation is a dangerous policy.
