I say vital for the team. EMANUELE GIACCHERINI will return to the fold after next monthâs first international break of the season. Giaccherini was ruled out of last weekendâs Premier League opener against West Brom after suffering a groin strain in Sunderlandâs penultimate pre-season friendly against Real Betis almost a fortnight ago. The Italian international is due to return to full training at the end of next week, although Sunderland boss Gus Poyet will resist the temptation to call on the 29-year-old for the trip to QPR, in the final game before the international break. But Poyet is confident Giaccherini will be available again when Sunderland return to action after the fortnightâs pause in domestic action, with the Black Cats boss impressed by the signs from the ex-Juventus man during the friendly programme. Could easily be the biggest player. Catts is looking almost imperious in his role, Rodwell with the drive, and Giacc with the creativity, and a handful of goals. Potentially, CM fit and on form is seriously good.
He proved his worth with his vital contribution in keeping us up last season. These contributions came from the bench, whether he can do that from the off I'm not sure but I think he will definitely improve on last season. Great to watch.
Is a quality player woukd shine in most top 6 sides. We need to get him on the ball in advanced positions, he will make things happen and score goals. I want to see him in an advanced midfield role not on the wing.
As it stands not particularly vital at all, a bit of a luxury of a game changer off the bench. He has the potential and the ability, however, to be head and shoulders above the rest of our team. Gus seems to get the best out of people so I'm hoping he becomes vital. Hoping he becomes the player we all wanted Sess to become.
I've always felt whenever he's been played in the middle ( all be in not very often ) he goes missing

For me, to get 10 minutes is important after not playing this season. “It’s good to be in this position at all and if the manager wants to play me for 10 minutes or 20 minutes, I will try to make a difference. “But I’m happy to be back quickly. Give him a free role, licence to roam behind the front man (Wickham). Buckley, AJ and Giacc can all play across the front 3 midfield positions, which makes it a very fluid formation. Wickham Buckley, Giacc, AJ Catts, larsson/gomez Anderholt, Brown, Oshea, Jones/Vergini Not sure if Giacc would suit all games, but he will defo be a big influence on our season
I love the fact he has the nuts to give this a crack after a very difficult 1st season. The last little Italian to make such a big impression on this league was probably Zola. If Giacc can do half of what Zola achieved at Chelsea i'll be spanking the monkey every saturday at 4:45
The run he made for the Wickham goal was sheer class, done at speed, perfect control, at the heart of the defence to create the space on the left and a perfect pass. Did himself a power of good but we are not a counter attacking set up.
It makes sense to have the capabilities to counter quick though init. Teams will press us back to stop us playing, they'll be plenty of games where we'll be stopped from playing and have to endure large spells defending, it's good to pack some danger the break.
No matter how you set up, you will always have the chance to counter-attack, important to take advantage when we can counter
OK everyone knows Im strange. But Giac in a GOOD team would have people creaming themselves. He has held on for us coz he likes us. I think as we improve we will see the best of him, ffs he has had to play in teams if they hadnt been my team I would have wrote them off. If we can start attacking more than we are defending and sitting back, we will be looking back iat Giac as a golden player in a few years time.
