Matchday/evening supper: Can of cider, crusty roll cottage cheese and parma ham, no seals about and you can't keep blubber in the freezer.

Lively chat in Dfer Chit Chat. All the regs showed up Bee from Denmark, Vamps in Indonesia, Bents in Thailand, Pasa in California and Malik upstate NY. Inny still jetsetting around Canada living off his 'I met Abramovich for coffee story' and attending all the actor stuff he does (I think he keeps a red carpet in a suitcase for selfie photo ops). Me and Pasa had watched all the pre-season live and were still in the dark about how the team would actually perform. The second half was no surprise as we all knew how the team formed up in dribs and drabs over the summer.

Defence and Central Midfield was the engine that allowed the talent to shine. We need the 'spares' to match that level. I mean the likes of Obi Wan Mikel and I'm Sparticus Zouma. If we get squad consistency from those players we can win the league. My thoughts are that this season injuries and manager fallouts will be the deciders.

Have to say though Burnley didn't exactly get behind the ball. They had two upfront and for the last twenty minutes had two strikers and two wingers on. We'll meet more disciplined defenses as the season goes on and the points seem to matter more. I'm sure next Burnley match at the Bridge they'll have nine defenders.

Am I the only one that found the 2nd half boring then, and frustrated with the constant passing back. I know why we did it, and yes it was good to keep possession etc, and we were away from home, but I think we were fired up enough in the first half to have gone out and scored a couple more goals. I don't think Costa looked very happy at the end of that either, he will be wanting to add to his goal total, not play cat and mouse for half a game to kill it off.

I want to be entertained when watching a match and for the first half it was exciting. That's how it should have continued , and how I thought our season was going to be.

Thats typical of us under Mourinho though, like you say, especially away from home.
Score a couple of quick goals, then slip back down into second gear and let the game peter out.
Not sure if its to conserve energy or what, but we always do this early on in the season, its weird.

Burnley gave us a little shock and we reacted well. Should have no problems pushing aside Leicester on Saturday but Everton away the week after will really test the metal. A game we lost last year. C'mon you Blues!!!!

On the entertainment front I believe jose said energy levels dipped resulting in the second half performance as games cone it won't be that way all the time!

Hey CP I will try that one out, Iv'e been drinking Coopers pale ale of late as well. Had an engagement party at my place, the guy was an Aussie from Adelaide, parents from Melbourne both doctors, so is he, they came over an ordered this stuff from a importer in London. This stuff tasted good and it has sediment floating around in the bottom of the bottle. Also brought some Aussie wine too from McLaren Vale SA. Called Grenache/Shiraz/Mourvedre., vintage 2010 not bad at all. Hope that Primitivo is as good as my favourite Italian, Montepulciano D'Abruzzo.

    Hi Abu,
Coopers is an Adelaide special and has been made unchanged forever. The big brewers have stuffed our once good beers, Fosters and VB etc now sweetened up for the "youth market". We intelligencia drink only imported beer, or Coopers. I spent 6 months in Rome a few years back and my local restaurant put me onto Primitivo as an alternative to the "expensive" Chiantis and northern Italian red wines. Boy was he right. Never looked back. Montepulciano D'Abruzzo is great too, as are some of the white wines from Abruzzo. Let me know how you get on with Primitivo, a mid priced one should be plenty good.

I've got a thing about Californian red wine at the moment. I was introduced to something call Apothic Red Winemakers Release, and I'm sold on it ! Yum! Yum!

Also not sure if someone mentioned it as his performance kind of went under the radar, Matic was superb and gave the others license to do what they do best. For me Matic was the key signing of 2014.

I'll agree with this, we were a bit of a mess before he came.
He is the glue that holds this team together.

We'd have done a lot better last season with just him had we bought him in the summer!

Californian Zinfandel is the same grape variety as Primitivo BM, so you would probably love it as well. What did you think of the game by the way !!
