Looking forward to tonight, there is always something special about the atmosphere for evening games at Carrow Road. Love it!
It might hearten a few to know why Stoke did not sign Redmond: https://www.clubcall.com/stoke-city/potters-chairman-speaks-out-on-spending-1736856.html? IMO, the Board has kept a reasonable balance after being relegated.
Was just going to post that link myself Rick but you beat me to it. At least like me the club sees real potential in Redmond then
I think this is a big season for Redmond. He could be a very good player and probably be top end Premier League player, but needs to work on his decision making. He's played a lot of games for a 20 year old.
Seems a bit odd that they met our asking price but we didn't want to do business. If we didn't want to do business then our asking price should be ludicrous and beyond their reach anyway. Saying to a Stoke "we want £10m", then turning it down when it's offered seems very odd.
I wonder which NR we'll see tonight?? First half against Celta Vigo, he played quite well and was actually passing the ball to team mates - 2nd half an in our 2 games since, he has reverted to 'type' - shooting wildly and not finding team mate when he does pass.
We only have their Chairman's words on that. He may have been citing what the papers said was our asking price. I doubt McNally would give an asking price, just that we were not interested in any of the bids they made. In the end, they went for Moses instead.
Gutted about Fer, I admit I'm not his biggest fan but the board are screwing Adam's over it's obvious he wants to keep certain players but the board just want to asset strip the squad in areas, if they had any ambition they would be keeping hold of our best resources. We need to keep the team together as most of them have played in the same squad for at least a season, you need players to be familiar and know each others strengths and weaknesses, we don't need changes at this point and drafting in a load of replacements will disrupt things too much.
I think the only thing I'm disappointed about Fer going is we haven't seen his best yet and we never will now in NCFC colours. But Fer was always going to go if he had a chance to make a swift return to the Premier League.
I see from the Pink'un that Cuellar was at the game last night, so perhaps things are moving on. No mention of Jerome other than City's offer has been accepted by Stoke.
I think he'll be a useful addition - I was a bit concerned by the Rusty/Turner combo last night at times and thought we looked much more solid when Ryan Bennett came on even though that was an enforced change. Cuellar will add depth and competition. Great night last night though !!!
Cuellar will be good but if im honest Ryan Bennett was a beast last night when he came on. Cuellar could struggle if Bennett keeps playin like that! Any more on Jerome? Think he would be a great Championship signing
Sorry to keep repeating it, but I'm 99% positive that Cuellar would not be competing with Bennett for a place. I'm pretty sure that we now work on the basis of, injuries permitting, one "big" CB and one "agile" CB. So Cuellar is back-up to Turner and Bennett is back-up to Martin, rather than there being a specific ranking to the CBs.
There's a twitter account claiming to be "in the know" at Carrow Road, which has put out some interesting stuff: -On August 5th he's tweeted that we'd enquired after Jerome -Claims "McNally and the board" wanted RvW gone -Fer might have failed his QPR medical. -Announcement expected 5pm today (which should be positive news) -Southampton and Seville were interested but wouldn't meet price. -Allegedly we're keen on Chris Wood, with Danny Graham a back-up choice (think Jerome supersedes this) -Reckons our chairman is only thinking of his pocket in Fer deal. -QPR have bid for Hooper, we want £7-8m. He's unlikely to move before the deadline. Claims he isn't injured. -Cuellar to be our top earner, on £25k p/w -Celtic interested in Bunn -Jonny Williams set to sign for Ipswich this week apparently. Curious how accurate any of it turns out to be. I suspect it's another nobody with delusions of grandeur.
Saw that earlier seems to be a bit suspect, Plus Bowkett doesn't own the club and would be unlikely to make anything out of the deal. Michael and Delia come in for some criticism but no one could argue that they would ever look to hurt the club. Without the Cameron Jerome claim a few weeks ago there nothing there really and he could have speculated lots of transfers and then deleted all but the correct one to make him self look credible.
