Radio Norfolk report it as a structured deal worth in the region of £10m. Which, if true, I think is a cracking bit of business.
It would be to any other club, but as it's slimeball 'arry and bloody QPRcelona we're talking, it should have been nearer £12-13m Good luck to Leroy - shame he wants to leave us to join up with a probable yo-yo team, though. HowNOTtorunafootballclub.com
Agree with this!! However, why did NA say Fer was in the Blackburn squad when transfer negotiations MUST have been at an advanced stage?? Sounds very much as though NA and the board are 'singing off DIFFERENT Hymn sheets!!!'
Or more likely Adams is just a puppet singing off the board's hymn sheet. I think we are now seeing why Lambert left and why he said 'there were things that the fans didn't know' when he did
BBC Radio Stoke ‏@BBCRadioStoke 11m Stoke City striker Cameron Jerome is having a medical at Norwich City, @BBCRadioStoke understands. A deal of around £2m has been agreed. One in and one out today by the looks of it
Good point carrabuh. I was, but I'm growing increasingly concerned at the the board's obvious lack of ambition. VERY likely explanation and hence why NA was the only candidate offered the manager's job - no one else was prepared to work as the 'board's puppet'
I am disappointed with Fer leaving, though I do understand that it would of been a miracle to have kept hold of him. This is still part of the hangover from being relegated, the best thing we can hope for ASAP is that we have a settled squad to face the season. I say well done to Fer for turning out for us against Watford, I know many other players who would of come out with that idiotic "my heads gone" excuse. Good luck to him, not QPR though. Lets just move on and look forward to an exciting season, playing football that is actually entertaining.
This is true and I'm not happy. However, as far as I can tell the only players who have left so far are: Snodders Pilks RvW Fer All of whom were on my initial list at the start of the summer of who I thought would be sold, except maybe Pilkington (though I was aware he only had 12 months to run and it was a chance). I would also include Bassong, Hooper, Becchio on that list. So I'm not really surprised and in that sense don't see why we should be too disappointed. The disappointment was that we have been relegated, this is just part and parcel to that. I don't see why I should be more unhappy beyond this, given that financially we have no real choice if we want a lasting club. These sales, for me, just fall into the bracket of "relegation". It's the purchases I'm interested in. So far they've been ok.
Does anyone else think that this bloody transfer window thing needs sorting ? It's a complete farce, surely the window should slam shut before a ball is kicked ?
Agreed and looking at the 'small print' of the deal, another cracking bit of business!!!! Totally agree KIO.
"The EDP understands the proposed transfer will top Robert Snodgrass’ move to Hull City earlier this summer, with QPR set to pay £8m for the Dutch international and the balance linked to the terms of the 24-year-old’s original move 12 months ago from FC Twente. City are also believed to have negotiated a 20% sell-on clause for any future transfer." £8m leading to £10m with a 20% sell-on fee sounds like a reasonable deal to me. Sorry to lose Leroy, but every player has a price.
I agree with Rick. Is anyone actually that surprised? I never expected him to stay after we went down, and if it's worth anywhere near £10m then we've done about as well as we possibly could have expected out of it. Was annoyed with NA re the Pilkington breeze he was chatting, but he's always said it was likely that "being realistic" Fer would be leaving. So we have Johnson, Tettey, Howson, Surman, Hoolahan and O'Neil as CMs now. I'd still take that over the vast majority of Championship club's CM options.
I understand him moving on, and slightly disappointed that we're losing one of our better players. If we don't get a replacement, I will be livid.
Off topic but interesting all the same Sportsmedia ‏@SportsmediaUK 35s Malky Mackay has been confirmed as the new manager of Crystal Palace.
