Surprising that Arsenal winning with a less than stellar performance seems to be a sign that they aren't contenders, yet Manchester United losing is not a sign that they will struggle again. United look to need at least 3 top players, though probably closer to 5 and yet I've not heard a (realistic) peep from the media. If last season taught you anything it's that leaving it late severely limits your chances to land the best players. Adding in the lack of European football and you would have needed to be bringing people in weeks ago. I just can't see you getting the number of players needed to "save" you this season. Interestingly though did anyone hear Ruud talking about VG's love with 433 and how he's only ever used 352 once and that was with the Dutch squad because he thought their defence was sh*te?! When you think of some of the United defences over the years and then look at Saturday's line up of Smalling, Jones and the other guy...yeesh. I don't understand. Surely you only play 352 if you have a really GOOD defence, since it puts much more pressure on them? Or does he mean that it's a case of "just score more than the other guys"?
It worked for Netherlands because up until Argentina the teams were all s**t scared of Robben and his penalties, Utd don't have that kind of player at the moment
