Surprising that Arsenal winning with a less than stellar performance seems to be a sign that they aren't contenders, yet Manchester United losing is not a sign that they will struggle again.

Since when was a near post header a sign of poor defending anyway? I've always heard it described as a 1/1000 occurrence that you just have to put up with.

    Yeah Mr common sense .

I wonder how many manure fans would have been happy if that had been offered to them at kick off .

"How would you feel about losing to Swansea at home today lads , with Van Duul at the helm now , no more Moyes to use for an excuse ?"

I wonder how many would have said " Well its just the first game , wouldnt be that bad "

    would they f@ck .

The thing that was THE most hilarious , without question , was the fawning f**ing pundits , lauding united to the hilt , creaming on every rooney possesion , like he was just guaranteed to give them all a happy fairytale commentary , " AAAAAANd Rooney , has given Manchester United the best possible start to the season , Van Gaal has made the start of a fantastic season .......blah diddly blah ".....they had the script already written , the kants .

Then suddenly Swansea score and what do they talk about , STILL fucking manure , but of course with subdued , head in their hands tones. , ...KANTS !

Swansea could have scored 6 goals and they would still be talking about Jug ears and Van Duul .

Its no wonder their dim fans are so convinced that they have a right to win everything , they are fed that bullsh1t , every fuckin day by the arse licking sports media.

    yeah we noticed .

But you will hammer em next time right ?

They should feel the fear ?

Given the amount of players that have snubbed your poxy club lately , ask yourself if RVP was not already there , what chance do you think he would come to you ,?

    Answer , no f**ing chance .

Lucky you signed him when you did.

One more season and he would be at the Etihad

This for me too. They have been falling over themselves since Van Gaal was appointed to try and tell everybody that he is going to save Utd from the mediocrity of Moyes - and them Bam - reality check, they are still as disjointed as they were last season.

Robben, Vermaelen. :). You didn't bid for Robben, but your manager was tapping him up while on World Cup duty, and Robben came out publicly and rejected you guys.

I think Cleverley signed a new contract last season, roughly the same time as Nani <cheers>

United look to need at least 3 top players, though probably closer to 5 and yet I've not heard a (realistic) peep from the media. If last season taught you anything it's that leaving it late severely limits your chances to land the best players. Adding in the lack of European football and you would have needed to be bringing people in weeks ago. I just can't see you getting the number of players needed to "save" you this season.

Interestingly though did anyone hear Ruud talking about VG's love with 433 and how he's only ever used 352 once and that was with the Dutch squad because he thought their defence was sh*te?! When you think of some of the United defences over the years and then look at Saturday's line up of Smalling, Jones and the other guy...yeesh. I appreciate you have Shaw to return but that's an awful lot of pressure going on one young lads shoulders.

To sum up - I reckon you'll struggle a bit again. Probably still fooking get points off us though <steam>

I don't understand. Surely you only play 352 if you have a really GOOD defence, since it puts much more pressure on them? Or does he mean that it's a case of "just score more than the other guys"?

3-5-2 turns very quickly into 5-3-2 if the wing backs are really full backs and drift backwards.

It worked for Netherlands because up until Argentina the teams were all s**t scared of Robben and his penalties, Utd don't have that kind of player at the moment
