    Don't forget Sigurdsson's teammate*Ki Sung-yueng who was also named!

I always thought the complainers were mad, Siggy has that extra quality that has been missing in recent years. I suppose Luke Shaw's transfer clouded people's judgement and valuation on Davies.

Not sure what this is based on - stats or opinion - but looks like the latter. I thought Siggy was a fab signing and Ki was MOM for me so well done to them.

"Gylfi Sigurdsson made an immediate impact in his first game for Swansea City since his return from Tottenham Hotspur. The Icelandic international was a sensation in his first spell with Swansea City and it looks like he could be set to repeat that, a winning goal at Old Trafford underlining just what the player can bring to the Welsh club.

It hasn't gone unnoticed and Spanish newspaper AS named Sigurdsson as the best performer in Europe for the first weekend of the season and he was one of six Premier League players named in the newspaper's team of the week. The others were Hull City's Allan McGregor, Tottenham's Eric Dier, Arsenal's Laurent Koscielny, Liverpool's Raheem Sterling and Sigurdsson's swansea teammate Ki Sung-yueng."

He looked very comfortable and assured on Saturday. Probably a combination of playing with us previously (settling straight in) and just being a class player.

Sigs was most peoples player of the week including mine but Ash was outstanding also. Ki has been working hard in training as the most likely to replace leon as the no1 in midfield and he never let us,monk or himself down and deserves praise. We must realize that they will get off days as well but im sure they will be few and far between, They have set a high standard in their positions and i hope we see more of it than not....

If they can keep that high standard Dai, we are in for one hell of a season.

I'm also puzzled why some fans on here didn't want Siggy, especially after he did so well for us last time. There's no pleasing some people.

Don't think he wasn't wanted, it was the valuations of him, Ben & Vorm that was the problem. That together with us having more urgent places to fill & seeming to have AM well covered.
But with us giving up on Michu, Pabs, Guz & Poz it's turned out ok.

Were there fans here that didn't want Siggy? Don't remember that. I think some questioned the valuation.

It was more about sigs worth against Bens and vorm and even i questioned it at the time but i think i was far too cautious as i think we have a good deal now. Sigs is looking like a better player than he has shown elsewhere and our style suits him to a tee. I can see him playing a huge part this season...

I wasnt fussy on what we payed for Siggy , but its done and he's had a great start . Always thought he could go missing in difficult games . If the team is playing well , Siggy has room to move ,if not , he out of the game completely it seems Just an opinion .

I don't think you can buy players in a set order. I'm sure the "more urgent" positions were being worked on. You can't turn down a great player just because you didn't sign a player for a different position first. It doesn't matter what order you buy them as long as you get them all in the end.

I think too may fans don't understand how signing new players work. If we desperately need a defensive player and we buy a forward, many fans assume we're not looking for a defensive player. Many deals take a long time. This isn't fantasy football.

I think there are a lot of 'fantasy footy managers' on here, entertaining isn't the word!...<laugh>
