i've just been sent a parking charge notice by a bunch of chancers called g24 ltd. anyone else come across these arseholes? what did you do and how did you go on? any feedback is much appreciated.
Something like 73% of all parking fines are issued illegally. As Mr Smith above ^ correctly states, unless it's the police or the local authority you have little to worry about. You've been a bit vague as to the issuing of the ticket but I'm going to hazard a guess that you have parked on some stores car park and been ticketed by a private ticketing firm. (usually bully boy cowboys) These private firms usually prey on the " Law of Contract " that means that by parking on said car park you legally entered into a contract to park at their conditions and you were to abide by them. i.e. length of stay and shopping in the store etc. Where they fall down (unlike the police and L.A.) is that " YOU" have to name the driver who parked there as that is the person that technically entered into the contract. As it's not the police or the L.A. you are well within your rights to say you don't know who was driving at that given time as it was not you so basically swivel. They cannot take you to court because it wasn't you that parked there. By the mere fact they are demanding money from you they are in fact breaking the law on harrassment grounds. Did you shop at the store at all and could you provide more info. ( My daughters a solicitor by the way ) your bill will be in the post ;-)
your right waddos.. i parked on a car park at 9.30 at night when to store had been shut for hours and it is a private ticketing firm. there was no obvious sign saying anything about parking or length of time you can park so i don't think i'll bother responding to them thanks for that smithy and waddos....balls to them

If you hold documentary evidence please provide copies of the same. As a private car park, any claim you have lies in contract and not in Statute. I could only be contractually liable if I personally parked a car in the car park. Mere evidence that a car registered to me was parking in your car park does not prove that it was the case that I parked it. What are your charges for parking in the car park? If there are no charges then what are the contractual terms that you (your client) apply in relation to this car park. Please provide me with a copy of any ticket you claim to have issued. Please advise me how it is alleged I have breached any purported contract. In anticipation of receiving the documents requested above I would make the following comments:- As your claim lies in contract it represents a claim for damages for breach of that contract. Your penalty charge of £95 (OR WHATEVER THE AMOUNT AS THIS CAN VARY FROM SITE TO SITE) bears no correlation to the damages you have allegedly incurred. In light of the damages you have claimed, your claim represents a penalty charge and is consequently not recoverable le in contract law. It's a ****ing car-park of a shop that's shut. The company that gave him the fine have nothing to do with the shop that owns the land. What's your problem with that?
If that is true then he should ignore the ticket. If, as I suspect, the company is contracted to patrol that carpark by the owner then your claim is complete bollox.
The security company I used to work for did it. My mate drove around with a clamp in the boot and as soon as he saw a car illegally parked he'd stick a clamp on it. There's a lot of money in it, you can charge loads
