I tolerate the bulk of the partisan **** you repetitively spout, but leave Bob Paisley out of it, you ****ing ****er.
You are using logic and reason. I have gone there many times. Yes a few may transfer their support to a more successful club but there is some massive hard core support in many of thsoe countries. As I said I am astounded by that support which does not look to being easily shifted. And dare I say it, it is even more solid than perhaps some of the support we have in this country. PS: "some Asian dude has any sort of emotional or geographical connection to your club" Yes that dude has some emotional connection. Dont ask me to explain.
There used to be loads of Liverpool fans over there too (still is), all you heard whilst over there was Beckham or Owen. Of course, you guys signings Park had nothing to do with getting Asian support either did it. If Man Utd aren't winning then I wouldn't be surprised to see another team buy a Asian star and take advantage whilst you guys are struggling (if it continues)
Yes you will always get hardcore fans who will support a team no matter what. But the glory hunters will always outnumber them by the millions. And thats where the money is. I would question their emotional connection too. A world of difference between watching the team live, taking in the atmosphere and being a part of the fanbase, going on forums, its ingrained in the British culture. Watching the game on TV from halfway across the world and sitting there nodding with a bowl of noodles in your hand wearing a knock off Man United strip going " Oh yes Lyan Giggs, Rayne Looney, he score a many goal" isnt the same
Far to much being made of one defeat. You can argue that we had up to half a team missing so lets not get carried away. We will probably drop points v sunderland as well but I wont be worried just yet. Once van gaals seen a few competitive games and got an idea about who plays where then we will be ok. We will make a few signings innthe next week or two and crack on with it.
Its not just based on the one goal though is it, it's also off the back off Man Utd's worst season in over twenty-five years! However, having looked at the team you had out and the players you had missing, yes, you should improve. Especially if you get the much needed recruits before the window shuts too.
Well yes, fans have taken it hard. Fact remains your squad is worryingly inadequate if you wish to compete in this league though, even at full strength. Unless you get 1 or 2 World class CB's and at least 1 workhorse midfielder, you will be on the periphery.
Yeah i think the impression did go a little far! Apologies to any Asians on here I may have offended. Still, I think it made my point.
Thats it though. As last season proved, the season before means ****. Almost everyone wants us to fail. So much so that people now expect it. How likely is it though? A year or two off the pace at most. After that the sheer size of the club makes it very simple for us to get back. Money. I think the club have seen what Liverpool did last year and are not as worried as the fans. They are not panicking and nor are most with a financial interest in the club.
About as likely as a club smashing the title by 10 points one year and then finishing 7th the following season......
Sure. You didn't need to post the gratuitous insults to make your point. Even then, the fact that the chap eats noodles and speak "funny" does not make his emotional attachment to the club any less...Some chap eats rare expensive steak with a knife and fork in Surrey and speaks posh English "Gosh Chelsea. What a team yeah ", does this make his support more solid than the asian's?
I obviously want you guys to fail, as you do us, but I like to think I don't let the rivalry stuff cloud my judgement. I don't believe you will fail though, I certainly don't expect it. If you don't sign a couple of defensive players I think you'll struggle but I reckon you will sign a CM and CB before the window closes and fight for the top four with ourselves, Everton and Spurs (I expect Spurs to fall away first and then Everton leaving us to fight it out)
I see you missed the point entirely and are choosing to focus on the unsavoury part of my post as some sort of deflective shield. Its more of a cultural thing than a racial thing. Are you seriously telling me that a guy in Singapore who only knew Man United existed since 1993 and has never stepped hide nor hair in this country let alone in your stadium can have an emotional connection anything like a British lad whose father supports United, whose grandfather supported United, who goes to games, who reads our BS tabloids every day dripping with football sensationalism?
Indeed! Especially how expensive seats cost... might as well finish watching the game... enjoy the football and the talents and the atmosphere... add to that atmosphere... even if you're losing! Living in the US- I've noticed this is very true. Americans are watching TV with their Burgers and cold iced coffee wearing knock off Man United kits saying "Yeeehaaaa! Darn tootin' ride that dawgie into de net Rooneh'" - but the moment City win they're all like "Awesome bodacious man, Silva is totally da man!" When Chelsea win the league everyone I meet that follows football in the US supports Chelsea... when City win- they all support City. When Utd win they all support Utd. Foreign fans are fickle and seem to change alliegence at the tip of a hat. I'm sure Asia is the same as the US.
Again you are using logic and reason. I know this sounds totally irrational but I have met fans, youngsters, and families who have supported United for generations. They will know not only about Beckham, Scholes or Rooney, but know all about Robson, Strachan, and some would even talk to me about whiteside, buchan, Mcqueen. And the local papers have more stuff about United than their own local or national teams... Anyway I wouldn't expect you as a chelsea fan to accept that. I think it would take quite a few years in the doldrums for any significant impact on that global support. I am not arsed about that in any case. It is all money going into the GG's pockets...
