I had a 5GT, I'd wanted one for years, and eventually got one, loved it for about 3 days, until I was driving past the Grange and it blew ****ing steamout of both sides of the bonnet and died.

Sold it for bits and got my money back, but never had a French car since.

My mum had a Rover SD1 it was ****ing huge and it went like stink, my granddad left it to her when he died, she sold it a few weeks later cos it was too hot for her, she bought a Mazda RX7 Mk1 which was like driving about in an anvil with a sunroof.

Mine was off the road more than it was on it. Used to get it fixed of a formula 3 works. They hated it..You could see the look in their eyes, as it was towed in yet again..

Cost a mint, got rid of it for a Cavalier SRI, god i loved that car.

I looked after a mates 105 gti the 1.9 version when he went away on detachment, to keep it 'ticking over' for him, one of the best cars I've ever driven. It was more fun than any Peugeot ever made, it just refused to tip over round corners, it ate pheasants for breakfast... he thought I just took it for a nice run out on an open road, bless him.

That's what I meant mate, fingers aren't working properly. They're the bollocks. I'd have one now, in fact there was a stupid little c**t trying to overtake me in his the other day, I was a bit jealous to be honest, although he had no chance of getting past cos he looked like a spotty little loser (if it was a fit bird I'd have def let them past), I just couldn't help thinking he'd be having way more fun than I was.

Even the 1.6 was immense, it actually was better to drive in some ways cos it was a lot lighter, just went a bit flat in 5th.

Great little cars to drive, and no ****ing turbo to explode like the Renault.

They don't make them like that any more mate, for fun factor they beat the current breed hands down.

The Pulsar GTiR was insane, some of the ones I've seen would wipe the floor with any hot hatch out at the minute.

I only had a shot in that one mate, it was like driving a go kart. He ended up head on into a Securicor van, suffice to say the armoured van won that one and the Pug died.

    Pedantic warning...

Was either a Pulsar or a GTIr mate... never both.

One was the name for Europe, the other for Japan.

They were vicious, but **** ugly, interior was straight out of it's donor car, the god awful Nissan Sunny.

I never in all my days of hot hatches seen a GTIr beaten off the mark, would have loved one.

    Didn't we all!

I had an XR2i, Mark 3 the 1.8 before they went to the 1.6 Zetec, that was a rapid car, changed it for an RS Turbo, that blew up too.

    Both great fun cars though.

Had 8 Golfs! And a Corrado VR6, timing chain went and wrecked the engine, haha.

Sounds like I have had bad luck with motors, but not really, had a lot of cars, and never looked after them when I was younger.

The Corrado, you could hear the rattle, I was on Felling bypass and my dad grafted at Mill Boldon, thought I'd get it back there and have a look, but it went next to Gateshead stadium, 4 measly miles away.

    Bastard.
