To be honest he could be a great player but he's not really shown much of it in a Norwich shirt. I'd rather he stayed & got on with it but if we got great money and ploughed it into some decent defenders and an AMC I'd be ok with that I'd be disappointed with £8m though, I don't think he's worth much more but I'd still be looking to screw them over for as much as possible with some very tasty add ons on resale later. Agreed on Redmond slap a huge figure on his head. As said we'd have been offered crazy money if we were on the south coast.
I have to say, I actually think Howson will be out best midfielder this season even if Fer stays, I fancy him to have a cracking season.
He was still on crutches last week so don't hold your breath. As for Fer - mixed feelings but inevitable he would go if a Premiership Club came in for him. Just glad it is now and not the last day of the window - same applies to any other of our players.
as i mentioned on a different thread, i think qpr is a great move for fer. he'll be playing every week (vital if he is to develop into the player we all think he could be). £8m is about right as long as we have plenty of add ons. he's been patchy for us but on occasion shown glimpses of brilliance. he coasts through games, almost finds it all a bit too easy sometimes. would have been wasting his talent at championship level. as long as we reinvest at least half his fee i'll be quite content.
I have to admit. I would be really disappointed if we let him go. If he does I will want to see some very strong replacements in.
Why? If we stick with the current system and play a back 4 and any 4 from Lafferty, Grabban,Hooper. Hoolahan, Redmond, Bennett and Murphy that leaves 2 places. Isn't any 2 from Tettey, Johnson, Howson, O'Neill or Surman sufficient for the Championship?
I'm inclined to agree, but we also need cover for injuries/suspensions. Despite all the rumours, I've seen nothing concrete to support the transfer of Fer to Koo Pee Arr and I'm not convinced he'd want to go there!!!
Harry mentioned he hoped too recruit three more players, but two would probably be loans. Would make sense from Fees perspective. A season loan, then when we take their place in the EPL he can return to us.
I guess the ideal would be to keep the strongest team possible, keep them playing together, gelling, gaining confidence, ready for the PL should promotion happen-
Yes, we still have Howson to return from injury to bolster the midfield. Does anyone know when he may be back in training??
I don't think that's sufficient enough for a 46 game season. It also looks like Surman may be on his way as well.
I don't think that's sufficient enough for a 46 game season. It also looks like Surman may be on his way as well. I have to say, I am surprised we haven't tapped the loan market at all this summer.
Where have you seen this about Surman? Would seem strange having played him pre-season and in the first game to then let him go. If they did we would need another body in but we have to accept that whilst we have hopes of a quick return to the promised land we have to operate in the meantime to Championship budgets which means we cannot afford to have too many players hanging around not in the matchday squad. In a crisis raid the loan market. We must bear in mind that we already have Bassong, Bechio and Bunn burdening the wage budget and might not be able to add to the wage bill until we get rid of them.
there's been a few sources suggesting surman will be going to bournemouth. i had heard similar weeks ago but then as you say, he played most of pre season and opening day so it would be a little odd, but if we sold him and replaced him with norwood i'd be happy with that. i do rate surman but norwood is a better player. surman would like to move back to bournemouth if feasible, from what i gather.
