Seen a few good documentries lately about the occupation of Afghanistan. BBC3 ran a three parter about the acual ground troops who do the fighting. Was pretty good to see something resembling the truth after being fed crap by the Government and their lackys in the press. It seemed pretty obvious that it is an unwinnable war. The Russians got sent packing from there so why the Yanks and the British thought they could stroll in there and do the business is anyones guess. As an Irishman I would just like to ask, what do you think the moral of the armed forces will now be seeing as they have now been beaten by a bunch of goat herders and Heroin addicts following quick on the heels of their heavy defeat in southern Iraq. Thoughts?
I would suggest that they've done a lot to improve the situation in Afghanistan. The situation before was horrific with the Taliban basically treating women as sub-human and inflicting punishment and death on anyone who didn't share their dark ages philosophy.
Surely it's pretty obvious that once the occupation forces leave the Taleban will just resume where they left off? Seems to me a massive waste of money not to mention the cost in young lives.
The people of Afghanistan deserve better than to have their country in such a shambles. I lost it with them when they blew up those ancient buddha relics ...****ing ****tards.
The 'Government' in Afghanistan that soldiers and civilians are dying for are up to their necks in corruption. The Taleban will take over of that I have no doubt. The Yanks are already talking to them to bring them into the political spectrum. All those lives will have been lost totally in vain. It is a disgrace but no one will speak up on it as they will be seen to be dishonouring the troops.
the people seem to welcome the troops more than the Iraquis did. Anything to add protection against those ****ing terrorist pricks the Talitubbies..
I got a better idea: We could take the £billions we've given to you lot and set up some new regiments: 1st Royal Irish Suicide Squad, 2nd Royal Irish Suicide Squad, 3rd Royal Irish Suicide Squad, you get the idea. Would solve your unemployment problem and we could keep killing forrin terrorists whilst reducing the number of potential terrorists in the British Isles.
Would it not just be easier all round if you leave? If that happened there would be no 'potential terrorists in the British Isles'.
There is another documentary out next week on dvd called Armadillo. Follows the story of some Danish soldiers operating from outpost "Armadillo" in Helmand, think Restrepo but with Danes! Afghanistan is screwed basically. Don't give the Afghan government any chance in holding it together once the coalition pulls out. Hate to say it but the Taliban will return to control most of it, with the reformed Northern Alliance holding onto parts of the north and the Pakistan controlled tribesman spreading their influence from the east. Feel very sorry for the normal Afghan's (particularly the women) because they are soon going to return to a brutal regime with a stone age mentality and years and years of bloody civil war.
Calling Futurama a 'cartoon' is like calling Spitting Image a 'puppet show'. You really have nothing going for you stopme
