He's already been on here - allegedly - Maverick. "He" took the blame for Ensil's excesses - only a cynic would think it was actually Ensil struggling on a hook.
I note that Southampton have currently sold about £100m of players. If they spend the money on replacements then they will have 'spent' £100m so presumably should be challenging for top 4 on this logic. Or perhaps you can now see the error of basing any analysis on gross spend?
Why are you mentioning gross spend ? Whether you like it or not you still spent in excess of £100 million last year. There is a hell of a difference between yourselves and Southampton.
Ensil? I am sure I would know if I was his son! Anyway my Dad is from East Ham so you can guess who he supports! Oh the irony
Its very simple: if you sell one player for £30m and sign another one for £30m then you would not expect your squad to have improved very much at all, but if you simply add a £30m player to the squad then you should expect some improvement. In both cases you have 'spent' £30m but its the net spend that really matters. Because we don't have access to the multi-million CL cash pot Spurs don't have the capability to spend much on a net basis (its about zero over the last five years) so its harder for us to improve our squad than it is for Arsenal who can probably afford to spend about £30m net a year (but don't usually manage to do that which is probably why you usually finish 4th).
Cobblers. You got lucky with Bale and cashed in big time on one player. Then proceeded to piss that money and some up the wall on half a dozen average players. Even Spurs fans were saying that their squad had improved when you signed those players and we heard the usual BS about knocking Arsenal out of the top four.It was Levy's attempt to try and buy his way into the top four and it failed spectacularly. You simply cannot brush under the carpet that Spurs spent a whopping £110m last summer to end up finishing worse off than the season before.
but Spuds didn't replace 1 player with another player for the same money did they ? they sold 1 player and then bought lots of players. therefore they had the same amount of money as Arsenal over the last 3 years [using your theory and figures] but they haven't improved so they have pissed the money up the wall then
Er? We had 25 players in the squad both seasons so I think you'll find that seven went out and seven came in. It was your own manager that warned it was hard to assimilate too many players at once so it's a bit early to claim we've wasted the money.
In which way do people think that Spurs will **** it up for themselves this season ? In the past we've had: - Lasagne-gate - Fullop-gate - Arry for England-gate - Ghostgoal-gate - 110m-gate - AVB/Nice but Dim-gate Spurs seem to find new and inventive ways to **** it up each season, what cunning self destructive plan will they hatch this season?
Jose Mourinho.... .........."I'll walk if Chelsea don't win trophies". Stephen Hawking.......... "I'll walk if the spuds do win trophies."
Oh well, they were extremely lucky today. The loss aside I was quite pleased I suppose. Long season for the Spuds though.
other HIAG-isms to add to the tw@t-tionary Trounce : To beat by a single goal ... eg ......we trounced West ham 1-0 today. Toothless : to only score 2 goals ........eg : Arsenal are toothless , they only scored 2 goals today
1 in 4 against West Ham is a terrible record though. I guess their losing streak had to come to and end at some point, simply due to the law of averages. But they got lucky at Upton Park, Noble missing a pen and Downing should have scored also. West Ham can be disappointed they didn't make it 4 out of 4.
