Was hoping someone else would have done a thread about this.

British troops back on the ground in Iraq, this could get messier than it already is, and that is saying something.

Does anyone disagree with this decision, as it's a blood bath there at present, and this IS has to be stopped, slaughtering whole villages, and taking the women and kids as slaves, often for the foreign fighters.

    ..............................................................................................

British troops have been back on the ground in Iraq for the first time since 2009, as the Government said the UK's mission "was not simply humanitarian".

Soldiers from the 2nd Battalion Yorkshire regiment were sent to Irbil, as RAF aircraft continued reconnaissance missions to help the fight against Islamic State (IS) militants.

They were in the capital of Iraq's Kurdistan region for 24 hours to prepare the ground for a possible rescue operation by Chinook helicopters.

But Defence Minister Michael Fallon told pilots and other service members taking part in the UK's general Iraq mission that it was likely to last "weeks and months".

Speaking to troops at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, Mr Fallon said the UK wanted to help "combat this new and very extreme form of terrorism".

Kurdish peshmerga fighters have reportedly regained control of Mosul dam
"There may well now be in the next few weeks and months other ways that we may need to help save life (and) protect people," he said.

"And we are going to need all of you again and the surveillance you are able to give us. We want to help the new government of Iraq and Kurdish forces.

"We want to help them stop the advance of IS and stop them from being terrorised. This is not simply a humanitarian mission.

"We and other countries in Europe are determined to do what we can to help the government of Iraq combat this new and very extreme form of terrorism that IS is promoting.

I feel that the rise of Islamic fundamentalism will inevitably lead to a conflict of global proportions if drastic action is not taken soon..

What is happening over there, needs to be stopped, and now, it's mass murder, and everyone is watching it unfold..Stop it now or it will spread faster than it already is.

There are some horrendous video's out that, about what is happening, probably best for most folks to avoid them.

Just one question..What is the significance of be-heading? They do this often. Is it a religous thing, a cultural thing, or what?

When Russia vetoed the advancement of western troops into Syria all hell broke loose, they denied it was about their contract to arm Syria, now it has been proven.

I think it's gonna be a natural progression this time from Iraq into Syria, with ISIS/IF/ASIF/RAGMONSTERS as the target objective. This terrorist activity needs to be stopped on humanitarian grounds at ANY cost, so it is not allowed to breed. Plus it gives our troops plenty of target practice to train their skills.

If Putin even opens his mouth about the advance of Western troops into the middle east now, he will be on borrowed time. The yanks are gonna deal with their economic and budget issues by doing what they do best in an economic crisis, using all necessary force.

I was against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan because they were fir very dubious reasons. However this state of affairs is as clear cut as it gets for me. These IS ****ers need to be wiped from the face of this planet. Forget Ebola, these loathsome bastards are a virus that needs eradicating once and for all. They cannot be allowed to get a foothold in Iraq or anywhere else and military action is a must, and I don't mean a sprinkling of UK and USA special forces. This is the time when the rest of the world need to come together and commit their armies to bite the head off this snake before its too late and their fight comes to our shores. FFS these ****s are beheading children and burying hundreds alive!

There seem to be a lot of foreigners involved, this is also another things that countries need to do more about.

These IS guys have a blood lust and will take anyone willing to kill. They are the outcome of AlQueida going unchecked by most Muslim countries. Pakistan, Russia, and Saudi Arabia have a lot to answer for.

Britain does, I'm fed up of reading about people going for training them coming 'home' to cause trouble.

I'd have at least 100,000 recruited by the military to protect the streets of areas where Islamic Fundamentalism is rife in the UK as well. Heavily armed.

Well I've never been there but as far as I see it Iraq has been left in a state of utter chaos.
Saddam may well have been a twat but at least the average Iraqi could live in relative peace.

What is it with the islamists?
Why do they feel the need to take over the world & force their doctrine on everybody else?
For ****s sake, they can't even agree amongst themselves. The sunni's & the ****e's hate each other.
It's like the Catholics & the Proddy's in NI.

And before any of you get on your moral high horses, I couldn't give a flying **** what anybodys religion is as long as they practice it in peace & abide by the laws of the country they live in.
Personally, I think all religions are ****, they're all ****ing hypocrites & greedy bastards who want your money.

These islamist fundamentalists have to be stopped though before the world ends up in chaos.

The Aussie one mate, I can't bear to look at it. It sickens me to the core that someone can do that with their kid. That kid is now ****ed, groomed to be an evil, twisted bastard. Never mind cutting the head off the snake. The whole creature needs obliterating.

Loads of 'Brits' ( in the loosest definition possible) out there. Those 2 girls from Whalley Range or wherever in Manchester with their nasty brother, trecking across Turkey into Syria. It appears far too easy to entice these kids to get involved in an evil cause. It cannot be tolerated, they need taking out.

Everyone seems to be wondering why Muslim Terrorists are so quick to commit suicide.

Lets have a look at the evidence:
    - No Christmas
    - No television
    - No nude women
    - No football
    - No pork chops
    - No hot dogs
    - No burgers
    - No beer
    - No bacon
    - Rags for clothes
    - Towels for hats
    - Constant wailing from some bloke in a tower
    - More than one wife
    - More than one mother-in-law
    - You can't shave
    - Your wife can't shave
    - You can't wash off the smell of donkeys
    - You cook over burning camel ****
    - Your wife is picked by someone else for you
    - and your wife smells worse than your donkey
    - Then they tell them that "when they die, it all gets better"???

    Well No **** Sherlock!....
It's not like it could get much worse!

IS need stopping as soon as possible

But i cant help thinking that if we hadnt removed Hussein from power, we wouldn't be in this situation now. He was a tyrant, but at least he didnt support religious extremists

Taking action in Iraq and, to some degree, Afghanistan has gave extremists a rally point. We completely destabilised the region and caused this mess.

Bit of confusion for a change<steam>

David Cameron has insisted that Britain will not be getting involved in another war in Iraq.

He spoke out after reports Britain had briefly sent some ground troops to Irbil, to prepare the way for a rescue mission to help displaced Yazidi people.

His comments came amid reports on Iraq state TV that Kurdish troops have retaken the strategic Mosul dam from Islamic militants.

Peshmerga fighters have been battling Islamic State fighters, with the aid of US airstrikes, after the dam was seized by the militants 10 days ago.

Mr Cameron made his strongly-worded statement this morning amid confusion over the UK's involvement in Iraq after a series of media interviews by senior ministers.

He said: "I want to be absolutely clear to you and to families watching at home, Britain is not going to get involved in another war in Iraq.

"We are not going to be putting boots on the ground. We are not going to be sending in the British Army."

So they'll be going next week then?

Anybody know how it's gonna work if Scotland gain their independence with regards to the military? Are they gonna take all the Scottish ones back? From what I recall there were a few Jockstraps in the forces with me, few nut jobs too in amongst them.

Bit more complex than that, what about the likes of Faslane where the nuke subs are, and Coulport with the nuclear bombs, not the easiest things to find new home for.
