About 2 weeks til the transfer window closes (hooray) .
Then we can see whether Pochettino is capable of developing the younger players quickly and
playing a more positive style of football with the squad he has.

And that is before the more pressing matters of remaining at the business end of the PL with cup
campaigns going on (and for me - taking at least 27 pts from the final third of the PL season) are
    considered.

I'd be happy if we stayed as we are now when the window closes. Unless a Van der Vaart deal comes up I think the squad is pretty good. Just need a good manager and some luck!

Schneiderlin was way off the pace. He is normally much better than that. Not getting his move has clearly affected him.

The only signings we should be considering now is either a blockbuster deal that came up at the last minute (a la VDV), or the pieces actually falling into place for Musaccio to arrive. Other than that, it's likely that our activity will be a few players headed out the door.

We are over loaded with players Pocho clearly wants rid of. Until these guys are sold, I can't see anyone coming in.

Ive seen someone else compare benatleb to modric, and i find the comparison absolutely bizzare.

Comparing Harry Kane to one of the greatest English strikers is bizarre. Saying Bentaleb plays Modric style passes is because that is what Bentaleb attempts but no one is comparing them in every aspect.

I thought Bentaleb had the potential to be the deep lying player we needed, if he was able to make the Huddlestone-ish long passes to our attackers in space. I've seen enough along those lines to be hopeful.

One thing that looks more certain is that Dier is too good not to start. I'm beginning to wonder the same thing about Kane. In either case, picking up another player might have prevented us from seeing that.

The main thing I'd like to see in the remainder of the window is us selling a few players.

If he is sold then we need more then 10 million to replace his goals and assists so we should be looking at doubling his fee, especially as its saints and they flogged average players for silly money.

I doubt that it will be accepted. But, if it is, you can bet it will be tied up with our interest in Schneiderlin.

In any normal footballing world, £10m would be a fair price for Townsend but seeing as Soton got premiums for their lads and English lads in general have the ridiculous added value for being bloody English, PLUS the fact we have Daniel Levy :)D), you'd probably have to look at around £15m to possibly £20m for Andros. He's not a £20m player by any means but for the reasons stated, it's a sort of standard fee for an English player of his calibre.

I've always said I'd like Poch to be backed with who he wants and if that's Schneiderlin then so be it, but the more I see of Capoue (plus the other CM's we already have), Schneiderlin just seems more and more a waste of money for me.

Danger with keeping Townsend for another season is that he may get found out, and we lose £5-10m off his transfer fee.

His England heroics last year seem to have inflated his reputation in the eyes of other supporters, many seem baffled that he's not the first name on our team sheet. Those of us who watch him every week see the more ordinary aspects of his game, and I can't personally picture him becoming a superstar, similar to Lennon.

    I couldn't agree more. <ok>

However, despite this, he's still young and maybe 1 more season might change my opinion if Poch can get the best out of him.

As things stand, I'd rather we sell Lennon. We used to say how much we missed Lennon when he was unavailable, but now he seems to do nothing when we plays. Very frustrating.

For me Modric is all about being all round the park ready to receive the ball and to lay it off to the next man. He's a constantly roaming portable play linker. Bentaleb's nothing of the sort.
