Not so much transfer news anymore, but poor old Snodgrass has been injured and they fear knee ligament damage. That would be seriously unlucky - from the sounds of it it's not going to be his ACL, so at least it probably won't be nine months out, but could well be three months. Obviously we got a great deal from Hull, but until the injury I genuinely believe they got a pretty good deal too. At least they beat QPR...
I for the first time decided to join a fantasy football league and I had Snodgrass in my team, kind of annoying lol.
I have come to terms with losing Fer now it would seem as if he wants to play in the Premier league and we are making a modest profit from him. The only way the club can turn this into a positive would be to show some ambition and sign a replacement that would offer us something new going forward, the free transfer of O'Neil does not not excite me but he can do a job for us.
A modest profit? A record transfer fee of £8m, a profit of £3.5m is hardly that. I'm sorry to see Leroy go, but the £8m will give us a chance to do some serious business before the window closes. If we don't, then I'll be annoyed. The midfield is our strongest section really, it's the defense and up front that need strengthening. A quality ACM would also come in handy, but the revival of Wes (well done NA), makes that less urgent than it was.
£3.5 million is pocket money in the present world of football, we could of got a hell a lot more. As for replacements I've seen a half assed rumour linking us with Commons, I don't even think we have lined anyone up.
I live a long way from the centre of the universe that is Norwich, but I can find no news about any definite move for Fer. All guess work and rumour as far as I can see. The fact we brought him on as a substitute on Saturday would indicate that, at least for the moment, we are not intending to sell him. I also come back to his getting we'd in Norwich. If he was intending to quit us it was a strange decision. I would have thought he would wed in Holand.
I just don't trust Wes, not because of his strop last year which to be fair I've done in the recent past when crapped on at work. More because he's either a genius or he's awol. He makes me nervous which Wes is going to play and not having a foil for him may cost us dearly. Interestingly enough I wonder whether another creative ACM might help him more consistent with competition as we've never really had someone who can do what Wes can on a good day. I like Wes he's been great for us but a bad period or injury and who can take his place and be the nutter in the hole?
All this talk of needing creativity in our midfield - is that not what Remond, Bennett and Surman are supposed to be offering?
TMC - to be honest, I think that E Bennett especially can provide it and more so at this level. Redmond needs to be coached to improve his 'end product', as most of the time on Saturday, his final pass went to an opponent and as for his shots on goal ...... I don't remember their keeper having to save one!!! Surman I feel may be on his way.
23, represents Northern Ireland, joined Huddersfield from Man Utd after being spotted by their scouts at the age of 6!
Rumours of Cameron Jerome on twitter and news now. Could be effective at championship level, I would not be overwelmed. But Could certaintly add another option to our attack. Bah!
Norwood is decent. Can pass a ball and offers creativity. Not in a Wes way, much better passer. Strong set pieces too. Would be a good signing - vast improvement on surman if it happens.
I think half the problem is, people need to get with reality when it comes to signings in the championship. We are not in the premier league now, and so chances are signings aren't going to be OK quality so when I read moans on forums and Twitter about potential signings, they need to lower there expectations a tad. Take O'Neil, poor bloke hadn't kicked a ball in anger and was already written off as he isn't as good as Fer. Of course he won't be, cos were not going to sign someone of Fer's quality in the championship.
Spot on ICBH and I'm liking the other rumours as well. Will also be interesting to see who we can bring in on loan.
Darren Eadie made an interesting comment on Canary Call that we are not going to miss Fer as he "does not offer much for a championship team". Very much suggesting that Fer's quality would be needed in the prem, but in the championship its much more of a long haul grind it out mentality. With that in mind someone like O'Neil is perfect been in the champ and been promoted with a couple of teams.
If we can get £8m for Fer and re-invest it in quality Championship players that's a good deal imo. To me Tettey is more suited to the Championship and looked well up for it on Saturday.
