Because he went to the same "School-for-Strikers" as Altidore and Simpson. Neither of them did any harm to me either but we need much, much better at this level.
Oh, so you're one of these people who look at goal records and ignore what other things he does for the team. I guess you didn't like Long much then, because Sagbo isn't really that much different than him bar pace.
No Macca, I don't ignore what players do for the team but I have seen nothing from Sagbo. That doesn't mean he doesn't give 100% effort because he does but he's being well held by some of the best defenders in the world in the English Premier League. He'll do well at Wigan if he goes. I hope that Sagbo can belt in double figures this season (if he stays with us) but some fans are waxing lyrical about him like they did with Altidore and Simpson and he is simply not that good.
Sorry, mate, it's just me being flippant. I would assume that SHOULD Sagbo go to Wigan (or anywhere else) then we would have to replace him with a 'striker' who could perform at this level. Sagbo came from Evian in the French League 1 where he had scored 6 from 35 appearances. He has managed 2 from 28 appearances with us and I appreciate the fact that he has come on from off the bench in most cases and hasn't got what you might call 'minutes' on the field. Nevertheless he has been well held by some of the best defenders in the world and we need a little more than that. Some posters were 'waxing lyrical' about his performance against Trencin but for Gawds sake they are little more than a League 2 Team with a capacity stadium of 4-5000. If he stays then I hope he can magically lift his game a couple of notches and make his presence felt (especially now that we are very short up front with the transfer of Long - forgive the pun) as he has inadvertently been given a chance to show what he can do seeing as he would have to be first choice to partner Jelly. Still has a game to go before his suspension is lifted so maybe Aluko will take his chance if given it. Just my opinion but I am sure others would agree that Jelly was running around like a headless chook against QPR but gave 110% effort and showed a glimpse of his class on occasion but was isolated for most of the game. We are desperately in need of at least one other striker and a back-up.
How many times have you actually seen him play? TV doesn't count as you don't see the bigger picture.
Seems to be something in the Philipp Wollscheid rumour. Sky Sports said again this morning that we're in for him after missing out on Dawson. Sounds like a quality player and is highly rated in the Bundesliga. Had 2 caps for Germany last year too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philipp_Wollscheid 25 Years old, 6ft 4. Could be good for us in the middle of a back 3, Chester & Davies either side..
This is not direct from Skysports - they clearly state it is from the Sun. " The Sun reports Hull City boss Steve Bruce wants Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Philipp Wollschieid after missing out on Michael Dawson. "
Bear in mind Macca that on another thread this guy said he wouldn't want us to sign Fernando Torres, it seems that only Ronaldo and Messi are good enough for him, possibly Ibra as well but that's pushing it
Now you are taking everything out of context. How the hell could we afford Fernando Torres' wages? Or Ronaldo and Messi for that matter. they are way, way out of our league.
Again, for the thousandth time, I haven't seen Messi or Ronaldo play 'in the flesh' but I can tell that they are brilliant footballers possessed with a gift to play the game. I haven't seen Altidore, Simpson or Sagbo 'in the flesh' either but I can tell that they are not near the level required for the English Premier League. I saw the penalty decision against Chester at QPR and it certainly looked like he had 'hand-balled' but the TV replay clearly showed that he didn't. TV football most certainly does not have the 'atmosphere' of a live game but the instant replays give a 'bigger picture' than what you would get 'live'.
It said "HullCityAFC" but I now understand that there are about 5 versions of this name and that he (HullCityAFC) has appealed to the mods on technical grounds.
Then why are you replying? There is an 'ignore' button on this site - dead easy to use it then you won't see any of my posts in future. P.S. You are on mine.
I'm afraid that's simply untrue. It's certainly true that by watching a game on TV you get to see the replays etc, so you get to see for certain if a decision was correct or not, but when it comes to watching the game as a whole, it leaves you sadly lacking. The camera's follow the ball, so on TV you get to see what the player on the ball is doing, you don't get a complete picture of what players are doing off the ball and how they're affecting the game. I've said many times, I've watched a game live, then watched it later on TV and the latter gives you a completely different perspective of the game.
