Total bs here We all know the weak link. It's not Skertl Not on pundit hack blamed Skertl even. It's a 1 v 1 million opinion right now
If you're going to say Skrtel should have come over though you have to say exactly the same for Glen Johnson since he was stood watching Lovren close the Southampton guy down and could also see both the gap left and Clyne exploiting it!
Clyne ran from the opposite side, the side who had Lucas, Gerrard and Skrtel looking on. Plus Glen was monitoring Tadic's intent on turning left. The gap in front of Skrtel was too big, period.
Where have all the Migs haters gone btw? Why aren't they out in force giving him credit for the save at the end...? ****ing superb save!
Not sure what you're getting at there. If you are suggesting I say Johnson can do no wrong then you couldn't be further from the truth. He is **** and needs moving on asap! If you are being sarcastic than I fail to see the inconsistency?
boy, What part of "Clyne ran from the opposite side, the side who had Lucas, Gerrard and Skrtel looking on. Plus Glen was monitoring Tadic's intent on turning left. The gap in front of Skrtel was too big, period." didn't you understand?
Oh yes, that danger area that is the corner flag over the actual goal, how silly of me My point was, you can't point the finger at Skrtel for not coming across when Johnson is equally spare and can see just as much as Martin too. If anything, its a team lapse, not an individual. However, it isn't even that, its a good piece of skill by Tadic that opens us up. Look at that goal and think of Suarez last season for us, you'd be busting a gut to suck him off instead of saying it was a individual or team error.
Good start to the season!! I think BR's selection said it all really, we aren't quite there in terms of the fluidity we saw at the end of last season. Team was setup to keep it tight and score on the break not to dominate the game and tbf it worked. I think Gerrard Lucas midfield pairing is way past its best but they do provide experience and Gerrards passing always offers a quick counter attacking option. This tactic is how we started last season and it works because it generally takes teams a few weeks to get their act together. I expect that we will move to a more midfield dominant tactic after our injured players return which will see Gerrard and Allen play a lesser role.
What amazes me is why we give opponents 10 yards of space when we are supposed to be pressing them. Why can opposing players break our tackles - if we ever make them?
All I know is it was drama and just what we were missing so it's great to hear ynwa sung loudly and a real game played Room for improvement and 4 new signings to debut! Moreno, can, markovic AND my new forward Rodgers promised me 100 mil in talent to come
Responsibility for the goal: Tadic 60% Clyne 40%.....sometimes opponents score good goals against you! Shame on Liverpool's defenders for not being 100% perfect!
Fully agree. All this over-analysing just masks the fact that it was a good goal, and sometimes you just get caught out.
I changed my opinion about Migs about four games from the end of last season. He's still got a few mistakes in him, but Reina was ****ing atrocious in his first season (remember the FA cup final against West Ham?). Lovren seems to give him (and Skrts) more confidence. Gets more commanding with each game too. But my ratings; Migs 7.5 See above. Johnson: 4.5 Like watching the final hours of one of your favourite pets before you take them to the vet's for their final injection. Maqua: 7 Good, steadt start. Nothing going forward yet, but little came down his flank. Skrtel; 7.5 Carrying on from last season and instantly gelling with Mr Loverman. Lovren: 7.5 Sound, steady start. Looks like he's been there for years. Lucas: 5 Shouldn't start if Allen and/or Can are fit Gerrard: 6.5 Started well then disappeared until Lucas went off. Henderson: 7.5 Pass of the game. Wasted on the flank. Coutinho: 5.5 Koeman did his homework. Did have one chance to repeat his Arsenal pass to Studge - and he muffed it. Will see better days. Studge: 7 Very frustrated and, at times, frustrating. Never take him off though, unless the game is already won. Torres-like (when he was good) in that he can sometimes have an unrewarding day until the very end. Never stopped moving though - give him his credit. Sterling; 8 He can't keep this up all season at 19, can he? Don't burn him out. Immeasurably important. Subs: Allen 6.5 Better than Lucas, and should start before him. Lambert: 6.5 Plan B came on and we soon scored. Seemed to get shoved off the ball easier than Studge and Ramjam though. Overall : 7 We won, good. we had them by the throat at 1-0 and were attacking in waves - then they dominated for nearly an hour and deserved at least a draw. 3 valuable points. Think United bought the wrong Soton fullback though, and in Lallana and ward-Prowse we bought the wrong midfielder. terribly impressed by those two. Could see why we wanted Bertrand too. Soton need a 20-goal a season forward and Schleiderin to stay and, injuries notwithstanding, I can see them being this season's breakout team and pushing top-eight again. We'll not challenge for the league, but I've not seen anything from arsenal down to worry about getting top four. We'll know a lot more after the City and spuds games, especially if we get that forward - and Shaquiri!
