there are alternative strikers out there to the ones which have been banded about who in my opinion offer better value, leandro damiao, jackson martinez, ricardo goulart to name just a few. 10 million is a obscene amount to pay for loan deal although many will say falcao is worth it, add another 8 million or so and we could sign a adequate striker on a 4 year+ deal.
Martinez has some solid goal to game stats. Damiao was the next big thing once but is still in the Brazilian league. I say no. Never heard of the other guy. I'm wary of signing players state from south american. Most just dont seem to settle. Especially attacking players. They often do great in Italy and Spain but struggle over here.
Falcao on a loan leaves us in the same position this time next year - not up for that idea at all, especially for 8 million quid in wages
Does it though? We may have a second consecutive year in CL and the title race, and maybe more. Maybe shirts sold and tickets to. A good run in Europe. Though admittedly I dont think it necercerrely takes a players of Falcoa's level to achieve this as we have strengthened well all over.
Don't get me wrong, if it actually happened and falcao is pulling the red shirt on I will be really excited but it will be killer knowing that he won't be here beyond the season
some of the worlds best strikers past and present come from south america and have plied their trade there before moving to europe. suarez, falcao, neymar, etc etc are all of south american descent so i wouldnt discount players just because they play in what you perceive to be a lesser league.
I'm not a fan of the loan system as it can leave you at square one come the following summer (much like Everton with Lukaku). However, if getting Falcao on loan at a cost of £8m helps us get CL again then its worth it.
I mean players who move straight from south america to England. I also dont mean because its a lesser league. Its the style of play. They often struggle with the physical side of English football.
The only way an 8 mil fee works is if the buying fee has a discount of at least 4 mil. Loans like manquillo and indeed lukaku are fine if the buying fee is agreed. Frankly lukaku had not many takers for some reason. I don't know why but just perhaps a bad World Cup cause evertons dreams come true
this, yeah it may leave us the same problem next season, but i should imagine we would be better equipped to convince players to come here, that for some reason this one we are struggling to, and at a cost of a £8 mill loan deal, bargain
for one year though? 8mil for 12 months on a injury return player seems steep. mind you its 20% of an eventual fee though so the way fees are going..... i dunno.
Also, Falcao will be 30 next year! a loan could be a shrewd move. I don't think there is value in buying him, not for what Monaco will want. A loan could be a sensible option
Erm....If we bought him outright, we'd have to right off that from his transfer fee PLUS pay him that each week!! A loan is savvy business. Doubt it'll happen though.
how do you lads know he is still world class? i must ask that. And yes the point that if you buy him for say oh 50mil over 5 years we would have to write off the 8mil in year one anyway. Thiats a fair point IF he's a 50mil player still. I don't know that.. does anyone else hand on heart know it?
i can only see one person who has said that, i dont know if he is still world class or not, not sure what that has to do with getting him on loan any way, buying him maybe. but like i said, for whatever reason we cant attract them this season, so getting what is still believed to be a good player on loan and for £8 mill and hopefully guarantee cl football again next season, equals bargain to me, whether he is world class still or not
