Under 7 days till the start of the season and we have not fixed our defensive nightmare nor have we effectively replaced an out and out goal scorer and with the only potential signing being discussed this week is for a winger which we don't need I again believe we are in up danger place

Reckon were in for a rude awakening on Sunday. The centre half issue should have been sorted out a long time ago. Our defence is abysmal at times.

Its cheaper to pretend our B/C internationals (Saylor/Mbiwa) are better than they are.

I am astonished that this hasn't been addressed. Not worth apportioning blame, I suppose, without the facts, but the club itself should have surely worked out that we're garbage at the back. Krul's not the World's best 'keeper, Williamson might find himself a teammate of Shola next Summer (more his level, Turkey League 2), Colo's getting slower and pieces of his brain are already in San Lorenzo, Santon's never really done it, Haidara's still unproven, Dummett's bang-average at best and for all the "talent" we have coming up, none are going to be a 1st choice CB this season. Hell, Lascelles is the best of our youth and he's not available til Aug 2015.

Well well well, I think today sums up my original thought process into a nut shell, first I will add there was loads of real positives and the energy was there from the new lads who looked very good in the whole.

But the fact we failed to have one single shot on goal confirms the people who say we deserved more are wrong.

We did not its like saying I should have won the lottery but did not buy a ticket.

Again defensively we highlighted why we are going to be the team most will love to play against and we will concede goals for fun.

If you can't score goals and concede for fun then we are truly screwed.

One final note the season we went down we started of well and got a point at old Trafford and look what happened so an air of caution must be used.

Man city played **** and were only half fit allowing us 45% possesion yet we failed to have a single shot on target I dont understandwhy that is encouraging

lose at villa and maybe then I you will sharp see beyond the false horizon.

Fair comment that. A CB is a priority.

Man City didn't play ****e, we matched them apart from finishing but you could see their power. The 5 bookings says its own story, including a cynical one by Fernando near the end to take out Sissoko. We were never going to dominate the game against such a powerful and skillful team, but play like that against Villa and we should beat them. Its obvious we have lots of pace in our attack and in Riviere a very powerful forward, so we should be dangerous on the break.

What concerns me most is im due being right

Would rather have been away city and home villa as we will end up with no points from two gamsz im pretty sure.

The pain is nearly over and as expected this has been a summer which has proved the sheer lack of ambition and one that has only cost Ashley a couple of million.

I agree we have bought a few decent players but it's like not filling your car up for weeks and only topping it up before you go on a 8hr drive somewhere it's not enough.

My concern for goals early summer have been confirmed and the back four are just as bad as last season.

The way the club and treated the likes of jonas and hba is shocking

Finally to see pardew still here ensures whoever we have in we will still end up screwed with his inept ways.

How so ? I'm pretty sure their paycheques went through. Can't think of anything else that they're due (except maybe an 'Ola' and a friendly wave to Jonas).

The absence of a centre half though is indeed inexplicable: the absence of a striker merely extremely worrying.

Lads, I think today is the final day for positive movement on the transfer front to happen as I can't see much happening over the weekend and if you look at the last several years on deadline day we have made no effort at all to try and bring someone in the only dealings would be out goings.

Can't see anything happening today sadly but ehh what did we expect, it's so frustrating as we are one decent cf and cb away from being in a good place (well as good as it gets under inepeptue)
