And Sterling wasn't MOTM. He only got it because Liverpool won. Wanyama was the best overall player on the pitch today.
Too early to judge him, he came into it more as we got on top. Seen Rickie at Anfield two years ago when he never got a kick.
Completely agree with you. It seems a section of our fans need a hate figure and now that Guly has gone maybe Pelle is the one. Very sad. Personally I think he, and Long actually, will be decent for us.
He was definitely better in the final 20 minutes. First 70, he had a tendency to just raise his hand for a pass or cross without creating any separation, and consequently he isolated himself. Late in the game he started popping up in different areas and lo, the ball found him.
A few more things - 1 - Anyone in Liverpool looking for Coutinho, please apply (kindly) to Victor Wanyama. I believe he still has him in his pocket. 2 - Credit to Morgan for putting in 90 minutes of effort. He's not match fit, but he didn't stop trying and running. 3 - Massive credit to Ronald Koeman and his staff for putting together a team in the truest sense from the mess of the summer. Really good early signs.
Been like that the last two times we've played them. Didn't go this time but did my good deed, dragging myself out of bed at the crack of dawn to drop my nipper off to get his coach.
Anyone that says that they were anything less than encouraged by that display just don't want to admit that they were wrong before the match.
Enjoyed the game lads, I'd say we took the first half, you the second. First game of the season anything can happen, pleased we won obviously but pleased for you that you look in great shape after losing some of your best players and things look more positive than the press would have you believe. Good luck for the rest of the season
Gerrard should retire after that performance. Obviously past it now. Very encouraging display from all today. Hope its not going to be another season of missed chances though. we should have scored 4 today (3 at least)
