Patience is our hope , we can not afford another season of these players under performing . The comparisons of the players IMHO were a fair bit higher in the back in the sort of cup winning , cup final days .
Well the times are a-changing. There have been 5 different winners in the 21 years of the Premier League, 8 in the 21 years before that. We've always been a club in a healthy financial position but there are too many clubs that blow us out of the water financially now and that makes the league more predictable and us a less attractive option than in the past. Even when you look at the 90s signings of Klinnsmann and Ginola, one ended up at Bayern(stepping stone) and the other was all flair and excitement but often produced little more. Was that such a better period for us? It's worth remembering that VDV(the only player you think counts) was actually a last minute bargain buy that you hate. Like it or not, our best chance of getting a top player these days is by either waiting patiently and hoping one is discarded by one of the big money sides, or by investing in young talents and hoping they come good. What's so bad about having top players that move on to the money clubs anyway? If Dortmund and Atletico Madrid can get to the CL final and still find they're stripped of their best players then where's the shame in it, it's just a sad indictment of modern football, not the sign of our club being run into the ground by unambitious owners. Ajax fans seem to accept they can't be the European power they used to be without blaming their club, why can't we accept the reality too?
The signings of lineaker, gazza, waddle, Stewart etc almost bankrupted us...we were very lucky not to have gone bust ... selling gazza and winning the fa cup in 91 were the things that saved us. stewart was a disaster in his first season for us after his big money move from city...patience saw him become a really good player imo
Exactly. It's a sad, but salient, fact that the big fish steal from the smaller ones. We nick players from Southampton, Swansea, etc. in turn Utd, Real and others nick them from us. But why let facts get in the way of a good political rant?
"The signings of lineaker, gazza, waddle, Stewart etc almost bankrupted us" Ooh, never let the facts get in the way of a good story eh. Good job Scholar never invested reams of THFC money in a c-r-a-p sportswear firm like Hummel, as well as in the property market as well as those signings.
"Looks like he has a wicked cross on him does young DeAndre" Walker might wanna foul up his work permit application ASAP.
I watched most of that game late last night. He certainly found space and liked a pass into the middle or over the top to a running striker. He got fouled a lot, but really didn't play a big part in the 6-0 drumming. Walker would be right to be concerned but there's no reason for him to fear his place in the team just yet.
Chances are he will be crap, like the majority of american footballers (at club level) but they are decent at International level.
Poch has declared that there will probably be no more incomings or outgoings apart from u21 loans. It won't stop the redtops from making up stuff though.
I hear you're in the market for one of those turborocket US World Cup kits. It would look good on you. http://www.popsicle.com/product/detail/107691/red-white-and-blue-turbo-rocket-
"Poch has declared that there will probably be no more incomings or outgoings apart from u21 loans. It won't stop the redtops from making up stuff though." Managers always say that and say they are happy with the pool of players they have. Deep down they always want better players. I expect 1 or 2 more to come in before the transfer window closes. A cb (probably not mussachio) and a Lw/f. In an ideal world Dawson and Chadli out and loans for Fredericks, Veljcovic, Fryers, Mason and Caroll.
What if you got run over by a car, and they had to take off the outer layer? You'd worry the paramedics would leave you to your fate. I've thought about getting one myself. Not for long, mind you. It's so awful it's good, IMO. But it may not be for everyone.
Just watching the Liverpool v Southampton match and keeping a close watch on Schneiderlin. I honestly don't see him being an improvement in what we have already. The type of money he would cost I would much rather we save or spend on another area of our team.
Schneiderlin isn't worth the fee being quoted and agree with the above, not a improvement on what we have. Plus we have Bentaleb who is showing more confidence, playing Modric style passes and we can't keep throwing money at average players when we have talented youngsters who are making their mark.
It's not that he's a bad player WY, just for £20 million+ or whatever they would want for him, I think there would be other areas we could improve. We will need a new striker in the next couple of years as Soldado and Adebayor are both in the later stages of their careers and I would rather put this money aside for that deal instead. We have Bentaleb, Holtby, Sandro and Capoue and perhaps Dembele who I think are as good as Schneiderlin.
