Just little bits south of the M27 come under eastleigh in the north & east, like the Hampshire Cricket Ground. Eastleigh council tend to stick up bloody signs at every boundary point saying "Eastleigh Borough Council - Tackling Climate Change" Plenty of LOL's there.
Back to Eastleigh FC & to prove the boundary mix ups even more, they were founded in the 50's as "Swaythling" and didn't call themselves Eastleigh until the 80's.
It must piss Eastleigh Council off something cronic having the cricket ground called Southampton by all the media for England games, despite all the money they are lending to Rod Bransgrove. Same goes for the Airport.
Eastleigh 2 Gateshead 2. Eastleigh go one nil down through an own goal then score twice with 4 mins to go before half time. Gateshead equalise in the second half before Eastleigh go down to ten men due to red card
The worst ones are the ****ers who live in Knightwood Park and the like who are absolutely in Eastleigh but insist their address is part of Winchester.
I have a relative who lives in Colden Common. He insisted that he lived within the cordon of Winchester after I jokingly said his address was part of Eastleigh. He's not a football supporter, by the way. I think he's correct, but it was funny how important it was to him.
Colden common is within the winchester district council boundary. I'm sad an know too much about council boundaries. Even whiteley is within the winchester boundary but fareham borough look after it.
Yet West End comes under Southampton although I think the east boarder for West End is Mooregreen hospital. Almost opposite the Cricket ground.
Winchester FC are doing really well this season. The first two home wins saw 7-0 and 6-0 victories before the 1-1 draw away to Hamworthy. I couldn't get to the match but they also thumped Lymington 5-2 in the preliminary FA Cup round yesterday.
One side of one Colden Common is in Eastleigh! They laugh at the rather when the council tax bills come. Even Denmead, all the way down near Skatesville with its POff postcode is under Winchester!! Anyway, The Spitfires are going well and never thought I'd see them on TV...amazed!
So if they make it into the league, it would be interesting to see how many fans they could pick up in that area. If you are a Southampton fan and from Eastleigh you wouldn't be supporting your local team anymore. It would be the same as Havant with Pompey and we'd lose all those Leigh Park fans.
What would be really good, would be fans going to St Mary's one week and Eastleigh the other. Same down your way.
That's a good idea. It does put what Eastleigh have achieved in a very positive light, I can't see Havant emulating that very soon, my non league team is Chichester City though, they'll still be in the Sussex county league in the year 3000
