With a brilliant result, now is the time to move for a few players. So who? What should be Monk's move (assuming we're getting Fernandez)?

With palace in disarray, now has to be the time to move on Jonny Williams (gives them a chance to offer new manager spending money).

    Jonny Williams
    Stambouli
    Timothee

Won't include Fernandez as it's a done deal.

Are we going for double the numbers at every position? Is Fulton considered ready for prime time. Is Jazz? Amat started before Bartley today, does that make him the new partner for Ash - Fernandez notwithstanding.

Tiendalli did OK today. We don't have double for every winger position unless Bray is considered ready. So I think that is where we might want to add. Amat can play full back (I think), so can Jazz.

Emnes can play out wide too.

Yes - I keep forgetting about him. But at what level does he play out wide? Not intending to have a go at Emnes but it prompts an interesting line of thinking ....

Depth is great until you either have to play it in a position previously played by a key player, or you have to play a lot of it when you have many injuries at one time. That's when Depth or the lack thereof moves from being a paper exercise to reality. So it begs the question ... does cover for a position equate to substitution with marginal drop or a deeper drop in effectiveness and competitiveness.

Yankee - good point. Last season, as well as Dyer and Routledge, we had Pablo and Lamah, with JDG also selected on the wing by Monk.

Montero has come in to replace one of the leavers, but Emnes to me is not an out and out winger. So if eg Dyer and Routs are unavailable (as was the case against Villareal), our lack of cover/strength in depth in these positions could hurt us.

Should we bring another winger in - perhaps on loan?

Could be that given his injuries last season that Napoli were unwilling to take the risk and pay the asking price?

Why would we have sold last year, we were always hoping he would back from his injuries & influence as before..

People forget how brilliant he was in the first couple of months of last season. He may not have been getting on the scoresheet quite as often as his debut season, but in some games he was totally running the show.

I hope that result doesn't put the brakes on transfers in that have been commented on last week .. two or three.
It's a long season and we can't expect everyone to stay fit and suspension free so IMO we still need DM and at least one full back, LB for me.

Really don't think it will, think it'll spur us on to try & get the players' we want, also make it easier to get the players' we want!!

I think this result will speed up the transfers of the players we are after.

Where we are lucky is that Monk has publicly stated we are a little light in certain areas, so I expect a few more signings this/next week

Just can't help yourself, can you.

Still think Monk should be sacked? You've stated it loads of times including only yesterday.

Still think Monk is "clueless", a "joke", or an "idiot"?
