I like the cut of Ronald'a gib, if not his creamy chinos. On another note, Pie, are you aware that there are other, better ways to communicate with fellow humans than the unutterably tedious GIFs and pictures? Y'know, words n' stuff.
That could be construed so wrongly by some newspapers looking for circulation, because he said we were a much better team than others in the Premier League. Of course, he doesn't quantify how many teams, so it could be construed he meant all of them. Anyone with half a brain knows he didn't really mean all. Ron's English is pretty good [way better than Pinocchio's] but it isn't 100% by any means either.
And yet the twat has already admitted to wanting to play for Bayern Munich at some stage in his career. He doesn't know the first thing about bonding with the people who make his career possible. And by the way, he'll eventually get pissed off with You'll Never Walk Alone at some point. Then where will his head be..?
It's his dirty old plimsolls that are my limit. He could easily wear some old black Addidas trainers from the 1970-80s instead. I'm sure Addidas have some kicking around even if he hasn't. They'd be slightly more presentable, set off many memories of 5-a-side football training nights for me, and look retro and cool. Plus they'd be about the same age as those plimsolls, I reckon.
There are obviously a few differences between the two. Koeman was a great player and Pochettino wasn't. Koeman won the European Cup with PSV and Barcelona, along with several other league titles and cups. Koeman has won plenty as a manager too. Pochettino hasn't won anything as a manager, and didn't win much as a player. I feel like Koeman wouldn't have come here if he didn't want to be here for a while.
Best Manager we have ever had. He can take us to the next level, whether you like it or not We needed to make big changes and with selling of the English lads At unbelievable money we can build the team for the next chapter. I think the players that have gone, have taken a short cut to CL football. We will earn it and we have loyal players and manager now.
Yes, I think we are building towards Champions League as a target, but I am under no illusion that we might lose players and managers along the way. The reason why we might keep Ron for longer is that he has signed up for the current project. Pochettino signed up for the Cortese model of spending big every window in a dash to the top so it's not surprising that he went when the purse snapped shut. Ron is a perfect match for the type of situation we have now and you can see how calm he is about it.
Champions League looks a lot further away than it did a year ago. Like it or not, big spending every window will have to happen.
Did you really believe we could achieve that? We any achieve that without a major restructuring of the club, the size of the stadium and the size of the fan base. We may have done an Everton or a Newcastle and got close or snuck in once, but without major change, it's a pipe dream. Nothing wrong with a dream, but a dream nonetheless.
It's a step-by-step process. First achieving the regular level of Everton and Spurs, enjoying the extra cash and global attention that brings, then moving on from there. It'd take a decade at least but it doesn't require some major overnight transformation. I'll tell you what the first step certainly is not, and that is replacing immensely promising talent with players like Ryan Bertrand. Maybe we'll do better in future windows when we haven't been taken by surprise by a large exodus, but this window was certainly a step back (not pointing fingers).
