"Young guns to watch". Routledge turns 26 this year and Graham's about that old as well <doh>

Where does it say young guns?

"Premier League stars you should know
Former footballer and popular TV pundit Steve Claridge nominates his top 10 footballers to look out for next season in the Premier League."

It mentions rising stars once that I can see, apart from that can't see anything to do with age.

I was just going off this article's title. If it's just random players to watch that's still not a very good selection IMO.

Steve "Finger On the Pulse" Claridge. Seriously are we supposed to take this guy's opinions seriously!?

Didn't exactly tell us anything we didn't know did he. Picked ten (eight) youngish players all of whom have already achieved various degrees of acclaim already. Where are the unknowns, the finds of the season, the breakthrough players!? Another lazy article to take up some page space.

Anyway Fergie wasn't included so wtf does he know! ;)

The only young, non-obvious player on that list is John Flanagan. Where's the likes of Shane Ferguson, Chris Smalling, Josh McEachran, Martin Kelly, James McCarthy etc?

Nor the young Jimmy Bullard, I guess they're just too unknown.

Routledge is a Toon player (he might have moved, no one would have noticed) so why is he up there for QPR

John Flanagan?! Isn't he they guy that Gutierrez tore to shreds in the first half at Anfield last season? So much so that Dalglish moved him to left back. Don't agree with that one!

No I think Flanagan might be the left back, who they rate. Kelly might be the one you'e thinking of?

No it was Flanagan. Guti tore him a new one and he ran away and cried!

Yeah your right it was Flanagan but against Chelsea he played extremely well, so he is a one to look out for this season.

As for Claridge, he has picked players that everyone already knows about. I'm suprised Walcott isn't there!

Oh I remember now, Robinson is the left back, but they do think highly of Flanagan. To be fair an inexperienced full back will always have trouble with a player like Gutierrez.

I believe so, Robinson is their young left-back (@Smudger).

EDIT: You corrected yourself too fast :(

Exactly. Surely the whole point of having a so called expert do an article about young guns to watch out for, is to point out players who we may not have heard of who will come good. Not just list ten good young players who anybody with a passing interest in football has already heard off and already has an opinion on.

I'm gonna become a journalist because if you can get paid for this jizz then I can do that easily. Gotta be easier than working for a living!
