After Pardew's press conference we have learnt that going into the first game we're without de jong, tiote, cisse and santon meaning we will most definatly line up like this
    4-3-3
    krul
    janmaat--willo--colo--haidara
    anita--colback--sissoko
    gouf--riviere--cabella

If it just me or does it strike you as a team pretty devoid of any creativity rather similar to the team which struggled for so long last season. Yes we have cabella now but how much can he do stuck out on the wing?

Personally I really hope hes given licence to roam but knowing pardew he won't be and will have to track back and forth. That midfield looks to me like a typical workhorse pardew lineup hoping we don't get thrashed and score a lucky goal some how weather it be by fluke or a bundle. To me Colback should be no where near the first team and looks like a lost child on the ball. Anita can be creative but he really relies on having two players around him who are comfortable on the ball. I'm happy to see sissoko back in the midfield but all he can do is run with the ball he is hardly going to be picking out pin point passes

I think all this does is highlight how thin we are in the squad and how quickly this season could go tits up and I really hope SDJ injury woes don't reoccur here!

Anyway I was optimistic but I think it will probably be 2-0 to city HWTL

sounds crazy but i think i'd like to see Obertan used

man city defence are vulnerable to pace - and since we don't have anything else to offer, having Obertan run past their defenders and cutting back balls for sissoko, cabella and riviere to try and grab a goal from might be our only chance

Couldn't Agree more....I think the main problem is we don't actually have any genuine width in our team which is a real worry

I think we should aim 4-5-1.

    krul
    janmaat--willo--colo--haidara
    obertan--anita--colback--sissoko--aarons
    --riviere

I would leave Cabella out of the first match, might be too much too soon and I don't think it's right sticking him on a Pardew-left (think Jonas' role) for his first game. Aarons is a left winger, plain and simple, and unknown to Man City.

If things are already going against us and we need more invention, switch to 4-2-3-1 with Anita/Colback holding and bring Cabella into the 10 position, Gouff into the LM and consider Ferreyra up top if again it's not going well.

If Obertan starts I believe half of the crowd would produce Katana's, blades and any other various sharp objects and perform Seppuku immediately.

Considering his pre season I recon he deserves 30 mins to show how he can do ...i'de rather play Aarons but pardew wouldn't dare use youth

Did Pardew say that would be the line up or is that just your expectation ?

    I would be somewhat surprised if we lined up 4 - 3 - 3

Mate he has done alright in pre season granted but he just goes to pieces in proper games. He has no confidence in himself and apparently has blistering pace but I and most fans have never actually seen examples of it. He keeps himself in shape, no doubt about that but I don't think that gives him the right to start games for us. He should have been moved along ages ago imo.

I think everyone including Pellegrini knows we'll start 4-2-3-1. Same personnel as the 4-3-3 originally suggested, but Sissoko will be RM, Cabella AM and Gouff LM.

    Not that we're enormously predictable.

Pards is going to sh*t himself when he turns to the bench at 59:55 minutes and realises Shola's not there.

To be fair to Pardew, Sameobi's first start was at Man City away. I really wouldn't be surprised if Aarons started. If so, either Anita is dropped and Sissoko drops into his correct position in the centre or he can come in straight for Gouffran. Having said that, the Sissoko/ Gouffran wing combination gives Pardew what he craves more than anything ... workhorses.

Not before Dummett comes on for Haidara. The classic LB switch which came to character last season!!

    Krul

    Janmaat
    Haidara
    Colo
    Willo

    Anita
    Colback

    Sissoko
    Cabella
    Gouffran

    Riviere

That's how I'd go and how I expect us to line up. We have young Aarons to add a bit explosive talent later. the only thing I'd say is if you were looking at pre season, Aarons may start ahead of Gouffran as Pardew seems really keen.

Oh I've seen his pace - - so fast some times the ball gets left 20 yards behind.

Cheers, I'm kind of a newbie-oldie. Was pretty active on the original 606 all those years back and have been languishing around in the backwaters of fan forums but thought I should return to 606 for the new season!!

You've made the right choice. I could give you a run down of members but you'll find out about them all for yourself. From the perverts (Alberts Chip Shop, Judeans Peoples Front) to the angry men (Mr Tiote, Beardsley Rancid Sack) to the stunning beautiful ladies (Mrs Eleanor), to the downright no good lying tools (myself). What were you called on the old 606 (highly unlikely I'll remember, too much alcohol has the lips since those days). Just to clarify though I am not the actual DMW who spent his time wumming the old 606 board.

Was 2_goal_tino back then as well. I remember the original DMW well, glad it isn't you!

It's good to see that 'trolling,' as it now seems to be called everywhere else on the internet, hasn't reached 606 and the old-school 'wum' is still in use!

Kevin Keegan was a quitter you know. I hated the man. Slept with my wife in his day. Bastard. Damn my glitch revealing my true self again!
