I agree with this. BR said when he came in that he had a preferred style but would accommodate the style to the players, rather than the other way round. As for Gerrard refusing to adapt ... him and Suarez both adopted a more relaxed / dropping shackles of tactics style play in order to express their genius. I'd say BR came in with a preferred game plan but adapts it almost weekly and that's why we've been seeing tactical flexibility, liberal movement, unyielding ruthlessness, breathtaking passes and amazing scorelines - Totaalvoetbal! I'm not convinced on BR the man, he has verbal diarrhoea, the teeth altering and leaving his wife - but that's none of our business - his expertise as a manager is starting to shine through.
The speed of play and the brownian motion was there with Kenny and in LFC DNA. As was love for the good pass. Rodgers married some of his smart tiki-taka into that, and voila! What was chaotic and undercooked with Kenny became a contained system under BR. BR certainly deserves plaudits. However, how resourceful this system is without Suarez, who spearheaded it, we will soon know. His relentless shuttling from one alley to the next was the turbine head if you will.
... yes the machine lost an engine part that hasn't been replaced, let's hope we sort it with a brand new shiny replacement rather than a reconditioned one.
With Suarez gone, I think Rodgers can play a bit more to his preferred style - playing with pace. Suarez, as good as he is, is a player who likes to take a lot of touches on the ball. This slows down play. I think we will see the best of Coutinho because his targets are now Sturridge and Sterling - players with a lot of pace, can run into space and play off the last defender, which is better suited for his through balls.
"He's spent well over £200m mate ffs, stop trying to portray yourselves as some sort of pauper at the grand table, as it's ridiculous." Didn't remotely say this and you know I didn't. I said it was generally accepted by most (not me but I assumed you) that a fully functioning city, Chelsea and United are almost impossible to match funding wise which over an extended time without an exceptional manager or great luck with home grown talent means difficult to overhaul in the league. That would put us 4th....at best yes? For every 200m we spend they can spend double yes? (FFP is a nonsense we all know it) But anyway you've gave me what I wanted...and it was suprising you were so lenient , simply match a top four position and be in reasonable running for the title just this year again? Cool. I'd personally have thought you'd say 4 out of five years in top 4 or something like that.....
Luck? Luck doesn't exist mate. Rodgers may have benefited from Dalglish signing Comolli, but that's not 'luck'. It was a good decision by the club to bring in the player followed by good coaching to bring the best out of him. We'll see if Rodgers can keep Liverpool competing for the top 4 this year but right now none of us can honestly call him a fraud or a genius. Try harder
There ya go, it really doesn`t matter who he plays for, he is not in a class above RVP and Aguero (probably about the same level as these). Clive Allen once had a great season where he scored 50+ goals, it didn`t make him one of the best players in the world.
It's not just about goals. I wouldn't put RvP at the same level as the other two but that's just my opinion
To be fair i wouldn`t put RVP on the same level either, though he could have been, and even higher if he was made of better quality material that didn`t break so easily Suarez and Aguero are of a very similar standared but given the choice i would have a fit Aguero every time.
Can't argue with that, really wanted us to sign Aguero before he joined Man City, quality player and a good professional too.
Because it was us mate We dont get any credit from any other fans, thats fine, let the feckers write us off
Was there meant to be a stop in there somewhere? In answer to the question you actually asked, the referees whistle to start the first game
I'm guessing you meant to put something like "when does a winning strike stop being down to luck". the way you worded it, its not luck at first but become luck later on
No I meant it as what I said. Tobes claimed we did well last season down to luck but winning 11 games in a row, when does luck come into it?
