Cloughie would have had some choice words fot the Palace chairman. It seems they swapped one floppy haired t*** for another. Pulis is the best manager of his type i.e one who has to work on a limited budget and get the best out of lesser players. Palace punched well above their weight last season. Anyone who comes in will struggle to do half as well.
Apparently he left because of failed promises. He wanted Siggy and Caulker and lost out because Palace wouldn't pay the amounts. I don't blame him at all, he will be back soon, I can see him at West Ham.
A good manager would say "fine, i'll do a cracking good job regardless. Might not be as good as i'd hoped but it we'll overachieve". He wouldn't just throw his toys out the pram and quit.
It depends upon who large the rift was, and what promises were made (and broken). If it becomes impossible for a manager to work with/for a chairman, staying can only cause more harm than good. Pulis may have had too much respect for his players to put them through that kind of hell.
"He would hardly get an open chequebook with Spurs. If he can't handle Parrish then Levy would destroy him." Indeed.
Exactly. Tony Pulis, Premier league manager of the year doesn't drop his standards and continue to work for a twit of chairman who doesn't have confidence in him. Missed opportunity for Palace.
First reaction was "this is paving the way for Pulis to become our manager when Pochettino is sacked in December". But not even Levy would do that (sack pochettino early), would he?
Surely if Poo-less is that good he won't still be available by december. Surely the Chavs will snap him up when Mourinho goes mid-september
I'm sure if Pulis declared an interest in Spurs now, Poch will be gone by the morning. I think for once, maybe just maybe, Levy is hoping he has a manager worthy enough of the long haul. He gave Poch a 5-year deal, which must be a Levy record? I've got good vibes about Pochy, not had these sort of vibes since Harry's appointment, keep faith with my vibes guys
Seems like a good strategy for Pulis. Manager of the Year has now stuck an "Available for Rent" sign over himself at the beginning of the time when teams start looking for a new man. His chances of getting an upgrade (in squad) are excellent. Much better idea than to tarnish his laurels by taking the chance of going down with the Palace. West Ham fans ought to be clamoring for him. And you never know, high profile teams sacking their managers isn't entirely unheard of...
That organ of reliability 'The Daily Fail' reckon Tim Sherwood is in the frame for the Palace job....hmmm.. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2725901/Tim-Sherwood-leading-contender-replace-Tony-Pulis-Crystal-Palace-manager.html
