He seems to have a serious ax to grind with utd. He's had another massive go at them today saying they'll do jack **** unless they buy some worldies in this window. What's happened to the great love affair? Also describes van Gaal as a "mad genius" <laugh>

Didn't he turn down a coaching role to be a pundit? Maybe he knows something about VG that he doesn't like .. other than being a mad genius.

Or- he could be overcompensating to try and make himself seem fair and balanced/not biased.

A lot of our ex-players do that- leave us, get a job as pundit or commentator, and then talk about how bad Liverpool are. Macca does a fair amount of commentary in the US- and he always seems to be saying nothing but negative things about Liverpool... usually, fair points, but he needles out all the bad things and doesn't ever mention the good.

I think he just calls it as he sees it.

He's right, they do need a couple of top notch additions and Van Gaal is both a bit mad and a genius - so I can't fault him there either.

Could perhaps also be possible that the negative things annoy you more when they're from the club you love and so they feel worse e.g. bad defending feels worse to me than bad defending by, say, Cardiff does. And if it feels worse, you react more strongly. In their case, they may also be frustrated that they're now on the outside and can't influence what happens on the pitch for their team anymore.

Liverpool don't have any world class players though

So a #genius needs to buy multiple additional world class players to have any hope of finishing above a #fraud

    Hmmm.... something isn't adding up

All valid, but it just seems to be going on and on. He never said boo to a goose when he played.

He never gave interviews, so you'd not get to hear his opinion on anything.

Now as a pundit, silence isn't going to cut it mate <laugh>

I'm going to predict that United time under Van Gaal will be a lot like our time under Benitez. A lot of almosts and not quites before leaving with a lot of if and maybes.

It looks like Woodward is already turning into his Rick Parry.

Scholes on Van Gaal - “From what I’ve seen in pre-season he looks a bit mad to me.''

Isn't that a line from Fr. Ted?

Don't know, but the title reminds me of Shooting Stars. Am now imagining Paul Scholes dressed as a baby and sitting at a drum kit.
