SB has said "He will pick from a fully-fit squad for tomorrow's match and said those players who do not feature in London will be in line to face Lokeren in the Europa League next Thursday." Read more: http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...tory-22738262-detail/story.html#ixzz3ASRRkV3l I've got my tickets and paid nearly £400 for the trip... why play a weakened team?
Because we don't really have a weak team now. For the first time probably in the history of the club, we have great strength in depth and still another 3 players to come in.
It will hardly be a weakened team even with Long gone. This way everyone gets a game and stays fresh for both the PL and EL. Most of the team that played @ Stuttgart IMO will start @ Lokeren. Keep everyone happy this way as well. The squad depth runs much deeper now.
This. Amazing too ain't it? Plus, all he's saying imo is that those that don't play at the weekend will still be given a chance in Belgium. I can't see him putting out a totally different 11 to Saturday. Basically it's now "you're all good enough, prove to me you're the best choice for me". He really is an excellent manager, no wonder he's so happy being allowed to manage without any interfering.
If he plays a weakened team he can take his enormous nose and shove it so far up his ****ing arse he dies from asphyxiation. And I'd cheer it.
Specially with Jelavic not up to speed yet. Just to clarify on my post above, I'd expect changes, but I don't want to see a purposefully weakened team 'so every gets a go' like our Roy did.
exactly, love steve harper, great keeper but why would we not make sure we get through? its a bit of an insult to the fans paying loads to go and see our subs play and play for a 1-1 draw or something
Truth. Plus, it'll give those who don't start v QPR the opportunity to stake their claim to a place v Stoke. It was only a friendly but those players who played aganst Vfb looked determined to fight for a place. This isn't going to be a weakened team a la the Carling Cup.
That's what I'd expect, those two have a really good partnership as well. Wonder if Davies and Greegsy will play in both games?
They definitely should, as should Huddlestone and probably Livermore too. Guess it depends what shape we play on Thursday.
I'm not in favour of playing a second string for some matches but if there's several similar ability players there's nothing wrong with switching them for matches. Just as long as he doesn't play all the second choice players in the same match.
He's a pudding! Damn, thought I'd checked that no one had beat me too it but must have glanced through too quickly!
As was proved with the performance at Stuttgart, we have a pretty good depth of squad now, and it is good management to keep players fresh and on their toes.
