I agree with you Billy. That's why a more established manager may be better, at least someone who has done something in the game and someone the players respect. Doesn't guarantee success though. We'll just have to see how it pans out with Hockleberry..:emoticon-0148-yes:

heya Shaks you beauty ... it's a difficult one because of Cellino, then again the current Juventus boss used to work for him at Cagliari so we just don't know, but I don't expect Hock's replacement to be a cheap nobody ... if Byram does get sold it may just persuade Cellino to spend a bit more on getting a better quality coach in ... of course, the cheaper they come the easier they are to sack as it won't cost the treasury to pay them off, just saying

I know I'm a stuck record, but Hock should be banned from interviews because he doesn't have the intelligence to understand his own comments ... now I've been fortunate to coach successful teams at a high level and also helped transform a tiny club with no money to gain four promotions in five seasons and go from obscurity into the National Leagues (talking rugby here) ... the one constant in achieving consistent success is a very positive mental attitude, an unshakeable belief that you can defeat anyone put in front of you ... I don't believe Hock can do this, develop that winning culture with a bullet proof mentality in the squad

Latest beauty from Hock when he has the opportunity to put another brick in the wall ... he says Boro are the form team in the Championship blah blah blah and then says "I totally believe that when we get it right we'll be a match for most teams" ... Only a match for MOST teams? Not ANY team? So now the question is, how many are MOST teams, just so I can work out how many games as a minimum you believe we are going to lose Mr Hockaday? You see, players read your comments, and no doubt you spout this **** on the training ground as well because its your DNA, and mentally they ready themselves to lose to those teams not in the MOST category ... now when they lose 5-0 at Derby its actually ok, because Derby are clearly one of the clubs we are not a match for

It's these stupid, negative, loser mentality comments that Hock makes that make me not want him around, and it proves he is not capable of developing a winning culture anywhere ... it may seem like small beer to some, but to become a winning club its actually these little things that matter ... no amount of coaching badges can make you a MANAGER, you have to have a leadership mentality ... Hock is a coach, end of, and all coaches do is TELL players to jump through hoops and run here and there (ok it sounds silly but I'm not going to expand on this, you're clever enough to figure it out) ... Hock is NOT a leader ... Roberto Martinez is a good leader, a damn natural at getting the best out of players, and you will never hear him say "we will be good enough to compete with most teams", yes I said compete not beat, because that's what being a match for your opponent means, you are going to be competitive

So Hock expects us to match most teams in the Championship which means a lot of 0-0 draws "which is the least we deserve", and a lot of close games we lose by the odd goal ... I wonder how many more signings we need to make before we will be good enough to BEAT most teams, and if we'll ever have no fear and be ready to beat anyone in the Championship?

What makes you think that Billy ?<whistle>
Personally I dont listen to managers interviews since O'Learys days. They're all full of cliches and blow themselves up as much as possible. Perfect example McD's constant reference to his Reading achievement. Results all that matters and anyone is entitled to a bedding in period. Dont think myself hell work out but he is entitled to time having been given the gig <ok>

No danger of Hockaday constantly referencing his previous achievements

LOL FORZA!!! That is funny ... here's the latest gem, Steve Evans (Rotherham boss): “David Hockaday telephoned me to tell me he thought Kieran Agard was a good player,” Evans said. “I said I might as well call the manager of Real Madrid and tell him I thought Cristiano Ronaldo was a good player.” Basically stating that "its a waste of time calling if you have no say in stumping up the cash needed to sign the player. I know how good the player is, thank you, now fcuk off and get your Chairman to call my Chairman."

Hockaday's just embarrassing himself and Leeds. God knows what Cellino was thinking. It's like he's bought himself a Ferrari and hired Stevie Wonder as his chauffeur

Cellino has little respect for his own coach, the majority of fans don't, I hope it doesn't filter all the way through to the players, maybe it is too late for that?

Very astute point ristac, and it seems your thinking actually showed through in the Millwall game ... how a team can be so flat on the opening day of the season when everyone is raring to go and fighting for places is beyond me ... I think the players disagreed with Hunt starting after his shocker against Dundee Utd, especially after Hock said players need to earn the shirt ... smacks of hypocrisy and that never sits well with players

Shaks mukka ... if you knew there were better options available and Hunt started instead, would you feel motivated running out at the Den? Enjoy the game tomorrow bud, I'll crack a few beers for you and your lads :)

What is shocking is that some of your players earn in a month what Hockaday earns in a year - how can they respect that?

I make you right - but so are most people in football these days - like Hunt and Morison on £20K per week each - scandalous!!

I would Billy, but then again I've never played at this level, how can these players get motivated when they have such fat pay packets.

Cheers Billy, we will certainly enjoy ourselves, we must have a beer soon...<ok>

"pressure is my middle name" ... very good Hock, I'll back you for the next two weeks for now, but the diamond forces us into our half too easily, and it allows the opposition to play a no pressure possession game if they want to ... we will struggle with this diamond if we go a goal down

"Second half we stopped them and they weren't that good but we lacked the quality to punish them" ... erm, yes, because you had no width to get crosses in to Smith, then you took Smith off and that was that

Now Hock, here's the thing ... its no use conceding the first half because your tactics are wrong (yet again), and then coming across all chuffed because the second half was "better" ... we still lost, and this time at home against a team shorn of their top players and lacking confidence ... so what do you do, you give them all the room in the world to pass the ball around and gain confidence, and next thing we're fcuking playing Germany!! WTF??? Get a grip man

Oh, and WTF was Norris doing on the bench? Now that I really don't get, you didn't use him because? Exactly, wasn't going to change the game, so why put him in the squad? Oh I know, you thought you could bring him on once we were cruising at 4-0 didn't you? Oh FFS
