I've always liked Shane Long, I think he's a good player and can bring something to the team. But, on the other hand, I don't think we made a good deal. So we made a bad business deal for a good player, and that ain't so bad and could've been lot worse. But. We sold our top players for premium prices and now we're paying premium prices for players that are probably not as good as the ones we sold. And that's not a great way of going forward.

I was somewhat underwhelmed when this story first broke but on reflection, Long is a proper handful, very quick and a bit of a nuisance. Those characteristics fit well with what we're about so I'm much happier knowing that we've signed a proven PL striker who wants to be here.
He had an opinion that others disagreed with. I'd suggest it's better to sound out why they were disagreeing and accepting that some of the things he was saying had some credence. I don't think anything he said made him a "****ing idiot". But perhaps I'm old fashioned like that.
Funniest statement and over-reaction I have ever heard. I think its been quite a good transfer window so far. Even better considering what has happened in the summer. As for worst transfer windows.........how about the Man U one last season? How about the season where we sold everyone and did the dutch experiment? How about Villas every year? This has been a good transfer window and we will be stable through this season ready to kick on again next summer with doubts cleared and reputation restored / intact
Even as a noted anti-Long activist, a shirt number is just a shirt number. Hope he can live up to previous number 7s like Tomasz Hajto and Andrei Kanchelskis

Off the top of my head, lacazette, slazai, Vargas, remy, welbeck. All available for not too much more. There were also way more than that available at the start of the window but we messed around. Also, comparing us to Bristol Rovers going out of the football league - it's not dooms day. I'm not completely down in the dumps. I've always stuck by saints and I will forever but I don't have much disposable income so spending a lot of money following saints around the country means that I'm entitled to think a terrible transfer is a terrible trnsfer window thank you.
Who did you have in mind there? I can only think of Gomis to Swansea, and Zarate and Valencia to West Ham and I wouldn't want any of those three.
