Also, did you ever complain about the potency (or lack of) of this team last season? Because pretty much everyone else did at one point or another. The team that in this peculiar narrative 'ran riot' through the premiership? Honestly, just relax a little on this and try and accept that our level has been shunted down a little bit this season. Let's see what happens - it may not be anywhere near as bad as you suspect, and we might even surprise a few with things like a "Plan B" or "A striker that has pace".....or, let's face it, even "a striker that can run and jump still".
Could anyone come up with 5 examples of alternatives whose clubs would be willing to sell, and who would be a significant imporvement over SL. Let's say in a range of between 10 and 13 mil.
I was never screaming out for transfers willy nilly. That's ridiculous. Find me one example where i said any such thing? I was saying our transfer policy has been absolutely abysmally handled - letting all our players leave before bringing people in even though we knew people wanted out from the start. An opinion which I still stand by. I have never seen a worse transfer window by any club in the whole time I have watched football. Will the new boys step up and be better than I predict? I certainly hope so. But my main grievance is what could have been achieved after we found out we were losing our team and gaining £90million if it had all been handled better.
Will you stop moaning. Long will score more than 7. I am expecting 10-15 from him. And how exactly was Lambert running riot? You are totally overreacting. You want devastated? Maybe you should try being a Bristol Rovers fan, who were relegated from the Football League. There are so many fans in this country who will be envious of our position despite what's happened this summer.
I get what you're saying, but I think your expectations of what could have been achieved amongst the wreckage are way, way over the top.
I probably could find where you've been moaning about us not signing anyone. I'm just off to the airport now , but if you really want and I get bored in the hotel tonight, I may just do that (post Shaw twiddling activity) As for the bringing people in before letting the others go bit - haven't we discussed that to death. It can go either way. Get rid of the moaners before they taint everyone is just one way. Hardly a shocking method really. I still think your opinion on how it has happened is unrealistic; there was not a lot the board could have done at the start and it is clear to me that they have been working to bring in a new manager and then new players over the last 6-10 weeks. You just have been unrealistic in your expectations of the type of player we would sign and the speed this would happen.
Often amazes me why some members of this board aren't using their wisdom and experience to run a Premier League football club.
Good luck to Shane Long - and thanks for helping to keep us up last season. Thanks also to the generous Saints board who value you at £12 Million
Therein lies a lot of the frustration, though. When the sell-off began, we heard time and again from the board (and posters on this board) that we were still a very attractive proposition, and with oodles of money we should have little difficulty acquiring top-notch players. Fast-forward a month and it's only natural that we've had to spend big on average options, because we're not a very attractive proposition.
Quite embarrassed to be a saints fan with some of the fools on here! Must moan no matter what, everyone is an expert on every single player and they are labelled instantly **** because they aren't Messi! Who did you all want to sign as another striker, Ings? Forgot he has always scored goals in the premier league...oh wait! Hernandez....why because he plays for Man Utd?? Unrealistic transfer! Maybe, just maybe a player can join us and we can get even better out of them, maybe they will learn things and become a better player, anyone remember League 1 standard Rickie Lambert who became a legend and more than capable of playing at the highest level!! Get a grip people, why can't you be excited that the season starts this weekend and get behind the new signings, get behind the new manager and actually support your team rather the hate on every bloody player we sign just because they're not your favourite person! I take it nobody will cheer if Long scores, if Bertrand makes an assist or a goal saving challenge or Pelle is a handful and puts himself about! More than likely the first chance you get and see a mistake it will be, 'He's not quite Luke Shaw', 'Rickie would have made that pass'!! Seems despite everything we have been through as a club, it's sad to see that even our fan base cant fully get behind the team, shame on you!
You bloody jetting off again, FLT? I'd read a good book if I were you. Searching for this guy's posts is the first sign of madness! Long could be a great signing. I rated him at WBA just as one of those buggers that scores goals. Strikers, we call them. He'll score for us, and just give this squad a couple of games and we'll all be happy I reckon. Great news if Cork isn't going. Roll on Sunday
Man you shouldn't be embarrassed ever to be a Saints fan.....Every home game you are likely to see 30 odd thousand managers each telling the actual manager he doesn't know what he is doing. Look.... everyone of us has every right to have an opinion. We are all human beings who in this case actually are Saints fans despite our moaning and groaning.....There will be about 2/3 thousand of us up at Liverpool on Sunday every one as passionate as the next willing our team to put more goals past them than they do us. There is likely to be close to 30000 the following week willing saints to beat WBA. The same fans that are moaning and groaning on here......They don't really hate anyone they're just letting off steam. Anyone of the new players that have an outstanding game on Sunday will become an instant hero!! Do you know though...not all will agree.....that much I'll promise you. So don't be so hard on us fans mate, we don't really deserve it.
Well he's ours now so I'll support him! Welcome Shane, lets smash a few in the first few games to ease our nerves.
