Out of the two I am a Rangers man personally, but even then I don't think Celtic need do anything other than to keep schtum!! Tough titty on Warsaw as far as I'm concerned!!! Harsh but rules are rules!
We COULD have been docked points, but as far as I'm aware the punishment we received was within the rules! They didn't break the rules in order to be lenient with us! If they did there would have been hell on!
The Poles are still going on about it in their press. The Polish UEFA delegate is saying that they should appeal because they've changed the reporting of the teams from faxes to an internet system and that '' It could be argued that the extranet is something new that not all mastered this art to make changes '' So, basically the club are blaming technology, uefa and celtic because the Manager, Club and most importantly player forgot that the player was banned. Poles!! honestly.
Poles eh, best one's are pole dancers. although usually the best are ukranians
It's harsh in that Legia didn't play the lad for 2 legs of the previous round, plus the first leg of the Celtic tie, and they thought he'd served the ban, some blart in the offices ****ed up and registered him too late. Should Celtic be expected to write off £15million plus? Should they ****, there ship, albeit a rudderless and ****ty one, was in order. Tell you what, Celtic may well lose to Maribor anyway.
If I were a player who was banned for 3 games i'd be sure that i knew which three it was. When he took to the pitch it was nothing else but stupidity or cheating. He could have been brought on when Celtic had scored 3 goals and played the part in a last minute winner. However much he did contribute was cheating.
No, it seems he, and the manager, were fully aware of the ban and that's why 3 games were skipped mate, it was an admin error, he was registered for Legia after the cut off for the first qualifying round. It's not the players job to do the paperwork, but the fact remains it was Legia who ****ed up.
Its the fact that they were knocked out as result! Had they say won the 1st leg 4-0, then the 2nd foreited 3-0, they would still have gone through. They cocked up, and got punished. The game was forfeited not the tie. Its ****e for them that meant they lost on aggregate, but they have only themselves to blame, not UEFA, not Celtic, but themselves. When you make a mistake you can eother take the consequences with grace or do what they are doing.
Does this mean that a team winning 4-0 from the first game can field an banned player to forfeit the second?
http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/28753686 Celtic: Legia Warsaw's Champions League appeal bid fails Legia Warsaw's appeal against expulsion from the Champions League has been dismissed by Uefa, meaning Celtic will remain in the competition. The Polish club were punished for fielding a suspended player in their third qualifying round tie with Celtic. The Scottish champions were reinstated for the play-off round and drawn to face Maribor, with Legia consigned to a Europa League play-off with Aktobe. Legia intend to take their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. "The appeal lodged by the Polish club was rejected and, therefore, the original decision of the Uefa Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body is confirmed," Uefa said in a statement. Gerrin! Can't wait to wind the poles up!
I hear the bird who ****ed up has been told to leave Warsaw. She can come and stay at mine like, Polish chicks are usually alreet.
