So this may not be the right board for this but thought it was worth a laugh!!:cheesy:

United are banning tablet computers from their stadium!!!

    http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-28773897

While initial reports suggested this was because people were using them to film the game and obstructing others view of the pitch, United have released a bizarre statement stating that its due to 'security intelligance' similar to the threat aboard airplanes.

However Manchester police have stated that they have nothing whatsoever to do with the ban, maybe james bond is a united fan:bandit:(double agent!!!).

Anyway one can only assume its only a matter of time before liquids over 100ml will also be banned from Old Trafford, and all shoes will have to be removed before you're permitted to enter the stadium.

I myself think this is another attempt to create some inkling of atmosphere in Old Trafford and to stop 'fans' watching the Chelsea and Arsenal games on their tablets. :emoticon-0111-blush

Filming the game isn't a valid argument, a phone would be much better than the tabled for that.
Besides, don't think I have ever watched a game that was recorded by a tablet. Any one else?

Smacks of fans being too quiet. Maybe the acoustics engineer they hired last year came up with this :D If you are using your tablet you are not fully taking part I guess.

Don't get it personally, why the f** would you bring a tablet to a football match unless you are a plastic and if they are banning tablets, then there must ba significant number of fans bringing them in.

Not only do you get the pleasure of funding massive fees and wages with your cash and pay a healthy fee for a season ticket but now you get told how you must attend games you pay them for the privileged to attend. <doh>

It's clearly so the fans don't mess about on their tablets while Utd play - basically like Sisu said, it's so the crowd actually get involved. At times last season you could her a pin drop - or in ths case a tablet bleep.

I ****ing hate it when I'm at a gig or a game and some twat holds a 10 inch tablet in the air right in font of me as starts taking photos. Pisses me right off. Use a camera or your phone for ****s sake, lest you find yourself smited and contracteth leprocy.

Tbh, there is intelligence that terrorists have been reconditioning tablets to make them into explosive devices so it might be to do with that, although they probably wouldn't work as the people who try and do that are generally ****wits who just blow their own face off.

I guess it's a problem where there are more plastic fans (like at old toilet) where the tourists bring their huge SLR cameras and ipads, kind of an atmosphere killer.

makes me sad that people go to a footie match and sit there on their phones/tablets etc.

not really a dig at utd, just how sad the game is becoming ie no longer working mans sport, its more a posh twats fad of the moment so must be seen to be cool type thing.

saying that opposite me i have 3 bungalows, and its like keeping up with the jones, one of them does their front garden up, you can guarantee within a week the other 2 would have done theirs, funny to watch but fecking sad really.

I went to watch Utd v Liverpool last year and there were a ton of people filming large portions of the game in the Utd stands. Liverpool fans were quality <ok>

  11. I don't think its "cool" thing. I would suggest the ones taking photos or recording footage are the ones that don't attend very often so they do it as a novelty thing, bit like taking photos when you go on a sigh seeing holiday if you like. I think that's the reason people feel it kills the atmosphere, newbies are less likely to join in with chants / songs.

    Its for security.

Old trafford being famous and massive is a possible target for terrorists. Thats the official reason.

    It's the reason given.

Hardly likely to go with "atmosphere is ****ing **** so no tabs"

The unofficial reason is that moyes introduced ipads to the club so its tye final step in removing all evidence he was ever here.

They've banned tablets as they dont want ppl topping themselves in the stadium when A. they run out of prawns and B. when VG loses a game, they really dont expect that to happen ever
