    In a sense,I'm glad.

Its sends a message to the bone heads that we ain't gonna be treated as if we are always going to except everything the FA serve up.

Don't even start me on about the passion for playing for England

    What do they expect ?

We were utter garbage in the WC, the same as every other tournament we enter.

Club football pays the players millions of pounds and IMO thats why they cant be bothered at international level. It used to be an honour to represent your country, but I reckon most see it is an unwanted distraction now.

Fans don't seem bothered either, including myself- There was a time that I would put the TV on who ever England were playing- I tend to only follow the big games now-

Im not convinced that the fault lies with the seemidly more important champions league- After all, Germany play in that too, as do Belgium, France and Holland.

its only the family enclosure tickets that have been selling... thats because they are reasonably priced..

I have no time whatsoever for Roy Hodgson and await his removal..

I like watching England. I wouldn't pay a lot to watch them, but I still love watching the national team play and I'll continue to support them no matter how **** they are.

That being said the national team needs some serious shaking up from the top down. England have no philosophy beyond looking who does well and trying to copy them. The national team needs a visionary, but looking over the current crop of English coaches and managers there simply isn't anyone out there.

Personally, I'd quite like to see Paul Clement be given the job. He's got a solid philosophy behind him, has worked with the best players and coaches in the game, is English, and most importantly can be trusted to implement a long-term vision for the national team.

England have copied the development model of a Germany, Netherlands or Spain. If England had a decade ago fans would be now seeing more technical and mobile players appearing. England make it up, there is no definite cohesive strategy. Coaching badges are not linked into a national pattern of play as they are in Spain. Get a badge and you can coach the kids to kick and boot if you so wish.

Paul Clement does not stay anywhere long enough to implement a long term strategy. His CV looks good moving up the ranks, but his philosophy now appears based upon following the cash around the globe.

A bomb needs to hit the FA.

I am completely in agreement with you on that.
Give us a manager who can teach our young stars how to play

A young "Star" should be already able to play. Coaches simply direct what they have.

And our coach nullifies whatever our 'stars' possess for a negative approach to appease the press and media.. A world cup is a celebration of football (I have been to 6 of them)
its not about bouncing along the bottom just to 'achieve' quarter final expectation. its about taking the brakes off our most talented and saying go show what you can do son.!

You're right about one thing -- a bomb and the FA.

Hodgson was not negative in the last world cup, if he had been more pragmatic the first two games he "might" have fluked a chance of progressing. You play with what you have and attempt to do the best with them. Opening games right up with the inferior players England have simply gives superior teams more of the ball to spank them with.

Even the Germans won ugly with players of ability that far exceeds England. And there is the problem, even Englands most talented cannot match up to a Lahm who can boss central midfield one week for Bayern, and effortessly convert to right back and wing back for Germany. No good saying to go on shows us what you can do son to players who can't.

International football requires players who are multi facted and England does not produce them. Mr Hodgson, Cappello etc can't do much, if anything about that.

Who would want to pay good money to watch a national team that is ranked 20th in the world. The same has happened to our football as has happened to the entire country, we gave it all up without a whimper or fuss. You get what you deserve and never what you want!

Not many would agree with your assessment of England players potential.. Barclay Chamberlain, Sturridge, Stones, Sterling, Shaw, Wiltshire, Flanagan all talented young players who given the mental space could all go do a bit. the german players weren't the best individuals, but they possess an internal belief as a nation and go out to win games and believe they will.

We need a coach who can tap that ability and set it free.. its not Roy Hodgson.!

The Germans have true International standard players front to back. Rounded players who can play off both feet v Englands? Well some are athletic one trick ponies. The German success is long term v Englands long term failure. That success is based on planning from the bottom up football programmes leading to Low having better players to pick

The same can be applied to the Dutch. A small nation that produces more World class stars than England, not because of genetics or luck, but because of the same bottom up approach.

Spain ... Again the same pictuire.

Agree with both of this. I won't pay to watch England again whilst Hodgeson is manager but I'll continue to watch them on tv and support them. Hodgeson is ****, hasn't got a clue how to manage big teams with big players. His tactics are pathetic as they only suit small teams. Sooner he's gone the better, can't believe the FA are sticking by him for the Euros...

Hard to get excited over a friendly (with respect) against a side like Norway so soon after the WC

If they'd have played it a week earlier then it would be the school holidays .
This would mean that a lot of families could go and see England play.
But I guess that the premier league has priority which ensures that young players don't fulfill their full potential, prices are high and players don't give a ****.

That Manuel Neuer passes the ball better than Englands players.

Can Imagine him at kids fairs:

"Here is fifty euro to anybody who can knock off the candy floss of that fence post fifty with a ball metres away"

"I'll do it in one" Says Manuel aged six.
