****, I bet Brucey didn't think of that and now after he reads your comment on here he'll be kicking himself
There's no pressure to sell with 18 days of the window left. We are weaker going into 3 winnable games at the start of the season. You're an idiot.
I don't know if we are weaker in terms of a starting XI, I think Ince will do just as good a job as Long did.
I don't think there's another striker coming in, Bruce is quoted this morning as saying he's happy with what we've got.
He's not just a winger, he's a forward. That means he can play an AM position, wide or through the middle, like Aluko can. We usually play 3-5-1-1 anyway, with Long in behind Jelavic.
Anyone who thinks Ince can fill the striker role needs to give their head a shake !! Our weakest area pre-season was in attack, so what do we do ? Yes that's right, sell our best striker who was just starting to form a partnership with Jelavic !! I believed with Long we needed to add at least 1 more striker, now we need to add 2
This just wont happen, unfortunately he is and has been playing at a level we are not in or near at the moment. We may enquire, but I do not see it having much legs in it. As Steve Bruce has come out and suggested, it has happened quickly and we don't have any immediate targets (although this could be porkies). I would imagine we will look at the loan market to see us through to January, or alternatively see how we get on until January without anyone.
I genuinely don't think we had any targets ready, our scout (whoever he is) would have been out looking at people we may actually sign all summer and strikers were at the very bottom of that pile. Although I'm fairly certain Bruce and his staff will already have put together a fairly big list of potential target from all over the land and across the seven seas. I think Allam will probably give him about 7 or 8 million to reinvest which I think will go on Michael Dawson and the rest be saved until January.
Will people calm the **** down, wait until we see who we sign as his replacement before you have a ****ing coronary.
Brucey has already stated that the money from Longs transfer will be reinvested so the only way we will rely on a loan replacement is if Brucey can't sort a permanent transfer over the next 17 days. If anybody can get get Welbeck across the line it will be Brucey! If Welbeck turns out to not be an option it will be interesting to see who else he turns to. That said he seems to be looking for players who are English or who are familiar with The Prem and not considering overseas players in this window
So they've put 3 bids in over a period of a week and you think we won't have looked for alternatives?
Reality needed here. There is no chance of getting Welbeck. Out of our League. Very dissapppointed to sell Long as he was about as good as we ever could have expected as our CF. Think the club may have dropped a large clanger here. Money will all need to be spent and apart from Welbeck, I wouldn't swap any of the names mentioned for Long.
Scumberland had him on loan, so we do have a chance. We may find that we end up with Welbeck on loan and Michael Dawson permanent signing, with a view to sign Welbeck permanently, that won't break the bank and Hull will have a tidy bit of change left over to strengthen in January if Welbeck doesn't want to stay.
England and Manchester United haven't been playing that well? Are people just getting excited by who he has played for? I hope not. I don't really follow other teams in the division but all I care about is someone who will be good for this team whether a big media name to people or not.
Why would United loan him? Rooney or Van Persie get injured he will be playing, especially as they seem to want to sell Hernandez. No benefit to them letting him out on loan
