****ing stupid. As well as the footy, I also support St Helens. I love watching rugby league, but the league format annoys the hell out of me. The magic weekend is effectively the 39th game, and the points often go on to decide who finishes where. It's an absolute piss take as it takes the fairness out of the system.

You may as well introduce the play off system as well.

I cannot describe how angry it makes me that your team can finish top of the league only to end up losing one game to some Yorkshire twats for them to be called champions.

i don't follow or know much about rugby, but this doesn't sound fair to me, unless i am getting confused.

all the rule changes generally are only to make money any way, not for the good of the sport, look at the cl and top 4 can qualify from this league for it, when used to be champions only, why? well more lucrative ties and a bullshit mini league to make money, what's wrong with drawing teams out the hat so you can get any one and only champions from each country can get in it? (not a good money spinner is it!). but all the clubs not good enough to say they won it 4 times will just say its harder to win now days blah blah, how the **** you work that one out when you have to be champions to qualify for it for a start! ie the 38 games bollocks we usually get thrown at us for wining the title, suddenly becomes not good enough reason.

this isnt a dig at arsenal but using them as an example, they seem happy (well owners do not sure so much about fans point of view) as long as they get top 4 each year and a bonus if they win the odd cup as well.

there is no real incentive for teams in the prem to go all out for the title so they can get in the cl as top 4 then they have qualified anyway (well 4th play qualifier etc) and got that extra revenue that most clubs is all they really care about.

top 4 is NOT a trophy, but we know why teams are happy if they get 4th, 3rd or 2nd, we need an incentive back for clubs to try and win, i see more pride in wining the league cup than say getting in cl from 4th spot, as one you experience a final and trophy for your club, the other you just have a nice tasty fixture list for a few games( again owner happy more revenue lol) and the only reason why they don't now days is because getting top 4 has become acceptable.

we came 2nd last season, and now days that's seen as relatively successful (mainly revenue reasons lol),where as in the past it would be called a failure really, why? well coming 2nd is just that, and you don't get to qualify for the European cup.

also how can it be called champions league if say us chelsea or arsenal win it this year, when city was league champions?

be nice to have rules changed that wasn't driven by money but for the good of what you want changed, never happen though as its bullshit politics still, but from a sport point of view.

Whether you think the extra game is right or not, it's about breaking into lucrative new markets. If the EPL can sell TV rights for a much higher fee outside of Europe, it means more money for the teams and in turn, more chance of competing with the big boys abroad. From a business perspective, it's about growth. That growth gravy train may well be plateauing in the coming years without opening up new markets, hence this as a possible solution. Mock it all you like, but the idea is based on sound business fundamentals, even if the idea itself is not that attractive or feasible.

Mirror saying that we're sniffing around Alex Song.

Lucas out, Song in. I'd be happy with that <ok>

    Edit: Oops, wrong thread!
