True. I won't be expecting a goal like the one Dani scored vs City, but I am expecting a much better goals to pound note ratio.
I am quite happy about Shane long to saints., I'd much rather have a hard-working professional Premier league Striker, Than a primadonna. We are not Chelsea, We will not be signing some top rated Striker.
Shane Long. Decent player.....let down by his habit of missing to many easy chances. I would have been calling for Steve Bruce to be put in a nut house IF we had paid 12.5 million for him. ( or 12m ) Not sour grapes...I wish him all the best and hope he enjoys his time at Southampton...As long as he doesn't score against us of course. O/T Yes Hull has some **** places but that's the same in every city. The people of Hull are a very friendly bunch and there's lots of positives about the area. Good luck for the coming season I expect us both to stay up.
The whole thing is a mess for most clubs: the champions league money buts the better players out of reach, putting aside the price they simply won't drop down to non European football in the prem. So we either scout a great younger signing from sonewhere or find the next level down in the prem within which Long is as good as most.
Please hurry up and finalise the signing of Shane Long so we can spend your cash on Danny Welbeck, thank you.
Welbeck is supposedly on less at Man U than Long is here. I like Long a lot buts let not kid ourselves, Welbeck is definitely the better of the two, not to mention years younger. Like for like is pretty much what we need.
A few people claim to have been told about Longs wage and all reports are between £45k and £55k p/w, which it will be between those numbers. Welbeck apparently is only on £45k a week at old Trafford. So near enough the same actually. Of course no one really has a clue what players wages actually are and all the variables such as bonuses etc.
That just means Southampton is in much less need of regeneration than Hull. Do you get to bid to retain it? You might get several terms then.
it's more apparent that he's on 75k tbh. that's the number on most sources. there's a metro article that puts it at 45k but they let anybody scribble on that.
Enough said really just in these bits. People 'claim' the amounts and in 2 days Long's salary has already potentially dropped 10k. Maybe we should wait another day or two and we'll hear he's in 20k Still, at least it's not Morgan's salary as that has been reported between 9k and 45k within the same week.
As I have said before, player salaries are mostly pure supposition. Suppose pass completion stats were given to players in a sealed mamilla envelope every month and folk on the internet made guesses about what they contained: would you bother to base an argument on those figures? From what they have said the board seem to be looking at "total cost of contract". Salary, transfer fee and possible resale.Ron obviously wants him and I trust Reed to do a sensible deal. Before we criticise the details of a transfer in financial (not football) terms, let's be honest with ourselves; we know none of the specifics.
I had to go to Hull for a weeks long training course with work quite recently - I found the people to be very friendly and I was surprised how nice Hull was. As I was expecting a real **** hole - typical stereo-typing bollox. However, I now live on the Southcoast an hour west of Southampton, and Southampton is a lovely place - I quite often visit and go shopping with the Mrs etc.
Don't understand the fuss about wages....we don't have to personally pay them..do we? I'm willing to trust the club when it comes to going rates and what we have to do to get players in before the end of the window.
The club's money is finite. It may not be our money, but if it's not spent wisely then the club won't be earning it back and will be worse off.
