If we are going to stand firm on Morgan then cork would be one of 7 central midfielders:

    Wanyama
    JWP
    Davis
    Morgan
    Taider
    Reed
    Cork

There is also a chance that Gaston / Tadic may be used centrally (if 4231 is used and not 433).

But the retention of Morgan is the key point here. If both leave the another signing will be needed in that position (and there are lots of links for that position)

    Exactly.

So as was said wisely above, he's good enough to be in somebody's 1st team, but not good enough not to be one of many on our CM bench. That's fine. Move him on if he doesn't want to stay and fight that.

Good luck to him, but no criticism of the club on that one.

So basically without Cork we have around 8 cm's, yeah I would say that is enough just(not counting Hesketh and Mells either).....

I'll not be disappointed should he leave. Deserves a starting place for someone, and he's not going to get it here. Good player, but not better than others we have in that position.

I don't want to be pedantic, genuine question, is Stephens a midfielder? Or were you meant to refer to someone else?

If this does happen then it would be time to give up on SaintsWeb until saints get a string of wins. That board is pretty much all full of people who love to overreact in an absurd way whilst begging for snippets from 2-3 seemingly legit ITKs

Not606 is more sensible and easier to register for!

Stephens is historically a right back but there's no way he's going to make it in that position, and he can play holding mid.

I rate him as a dm yeah. I watch a lot of academy games, he is ok as a cb. But can play and looks better at dm imo.

Got our fair share of pretenders over here, as you will find.

I think in a 4-3-3, the first choice will be:

    Schneiderlin Davis/JWP
    Wanyama

Taider also got good reviews from the Leverkusen game and could be pushing for a starting place given time. I can only see Cork being back up to Wanyama as his attacking qualities aren't up to it in a 4-3-3, so fair enough if he wants to go. Who will be cover for Victor? Reed?

Hopefully bolstered by the fact that spurs seem to not have large amounts of cash and are relying on selling to raise it (with levy putting his usual absurd price tags on players).

I am sure I read he values townsend and lennon at 10m. Isn't that what they bid for Morgan? No wonder we rejected it.

The only acceptable way of losing morgan would be if we can plug our squad with some of the spurs players as replacements (to avoid clubs raising their prices when we receive more cash in). For example chiriches, dembele and townsend (just an example)

Taider can play there and Reed and you could drop Morgan back if really needed.

What do you think of Flannigan? Wasn't he played in defensive midfield during pre-season? Is it too early for him?

Coming from a man who just declared that selling Cork was the worst decision of the board and Koeman's first big mistake, yeah, you're probably right there!
