Why? He hasn't done anything wrong. Did you want him to play for us until he retired? We don't know why he wants to go. If it's for personal/family reasons then who are you to judge?

I'm sorry but if those personal/family reasons are that his wife doesn't like it here then I have little sympathy.

Where the hell have I said we need SEVEN forwards?
I've only said we need ONE plus a loan-in.

No, but Jelavic, Aluko, Sagbo, Ince, Snodgrass, Boyd, Brady plus 2 permanent strikers and a loan would then give us 10 forward players. And no matter what you say about Aluko or Sagbo, however misguided your views on them are, they're forwards, whom Bruce rates and he knows better than you. Plus how are the likes of Karim Rossi and Johan ter Horst supposed to break through if we keep buying players in front of them? If Long goes somebody will replace him. We might then get a loan striker in as back up, maybe. We won't be buying two strikers, I can guarantee you that.

There's squad strength in depth, then there's cover, then there's sheer stupidity. Then there's QPR.

Sagbo isn't a strikers @rsehole.
Aluko and Ince are attacking midfielders.
Long goes we have Jelly.
We will need two more and (perhaps) a loan-in. That would make 4 in all.

And how many goals will each of these new striker have to have scored in previous seasons?

Striker =/= Forward

We won more games with Sagbo than without him last season.

He shouldn't have come here in the first place then. We spent five months ****ing about trying to sign him and now he jumps ship because his wife obviously wears the trousers in their relationship and calls all the shots. Good riddance if he wants to go, I liked him as a player and wanted to see him stay but this is royally taking the piss.

What a ****ing stupid comment, you haven't the slightest idea how this transfer has come about or what his missus thinks.

Grow up.

Did you get Long on the back of your new shirt?

Really? What about this scenario:

-Southampton contact club, offer £12m for Long.
-Club have a think, realise good money, tell Long about the bid and ask what he wants.
-Long considers the options. Enjoyed playing here but Southampton closer to areas his family live, likely get a wage increase and Southampton considered a bigger club than us. Also putting together a new team under a well regarded manager. We're still a lower end of the table team, potential relegation risk.
-Long tells club he'd like to discuss terms with Southampton if they're accepting the bid.

It's not like Long will have sat there demanding the club find someone to buy him, or gone round phoning different managers begging them to sign him. The club might also have considered the £12m too good to lose out on and maybe implied he needs to agree terms with them.

Some of you are acting like petulent children, convinced Long is the spawn of Lucifer.

Do you? Some people are saying he's unsettled, others are saying the club accepted a bid and he wanted to stay. I'm basing my opinion of her on Twitter spats she's had with other fans and what people on this forum are saying about her. Sorry if you know her personally and I've caused offence but I'm concerned that we've sold our best striker three days before the opening day. You're ITK, do we have a replacement lined up?

What did you think of Sagbo in the Trencin game? Oh yeah that's right you didn't see the game. He offers a hell of a lot and you are pretty much the only person on the board who doesn't think that

All of the above.

I don't think this bid is a surprise to us, I think we got it last week and wouldn't have accepted it unless we had something else lined up.

Okay. Personally, I'd like to see us go for Slimani as he's similar to Long but just a bit taller. Deeney and Wickham are too similar to Jelavic for my liking.

Bruce was caught out at Sunderland by having to sell two strikers without cover so I am pretty sure that if this is going to happen, then he has what he feels is equal/better coming in the building
