I know, I laughed this morning. I presume most people are a little less excited than they were 24 hours ago.
Exactly. This is all being driven by long his mrs and his agent. We ve got a good price for him now it seems it's about finding a replacement. Let's hope Brucey does the biz
Anyone know how many season tickets we've sold. Are the club seeking to get some money back from the sale of players? And hope we've got enough in the camp to get through the campaign.
Long wants to go mate. Bruce isn't going to wanna player who doesn't want to be there. Can't blame the club here.
Where have I said that? I have only mentioned that we need a permanent striker and perhaps a loan-in (before Long was mentioned as leaving) that adds up to TWO not eight. If Long leaves then we will need 2 permanent strikers (one to partner Jelly and one to alternate as well as to cover for injuries) and a loan-in.
Is it me but did Long look un-interested last Thursday night? He wanted to come off a half-time and couldn't wait to get off the pitch when substituted. Were Southampton on his case?
If Long has decided he wants to move back South and pushed for that then honestly I'd rather let him go than refuse. Look at any team and players unhappy where they are lose that extra bit of determination, that drive. We have a squad who've all worked hard together, and continue to do so, but if we start getting disgruntled players in the dressing room that can soon change. It's to be expected that some will draw attention of supposed bigger clubs and if their herat is no longer at City it's better for all parties that we let them go. Right now it's all speculation as to who initiated things. Maybe Long went to the club and insisted he wants to go, maybe the club accepted a high offer without talking to him first and then said he should accept a deal with them.
Nothing to do with this I'm sure. In the "second meeting" thread it states that ticket sales aren't far off last season and with the increased prices we're probably ahead of previous figures
OLM stated on another thread that ticket revenue stands to increase by £2 million, so I doubt it has anything to do with that.
No player shows that much frustration at missing chances if their uninterested. I think your just reading too much into it.
It just seems so amateurish by the club though. If he is unsettled and has pushed for this move three days before the start of the PL season then he's a selfish t**t in my eyes. He could've waited until after the QPR game, we could've signed a new player and got him settled that way. Now it looks like we're rushing and we've only got an unfit Jelavic as an out-and-out striker ready for the opening day. We might have to change the formation despite playing 3-5-2 all pre-season and this could disrupt the team before a big game. I was very confident about Saturday, now I'm worried.
How do you know the club haven't been rebuffing offers for him the last few weeks?? Long wants to go, that's it.
Jesus wept, Jelavic is maybe not fully match fit but he's still got two legs. Calm down, calm down. It's not like we're having to play Jakupovic up front. Chill pills all round.
