Credit to Rangel, he's the only defender who looked solid yesterday and that was with him doubling up as a right back and right winger all bloody game.

According to Sky Sports Bony has been top of Brendan's list to replace Suarez but the money men don't think he's worth £19 million. Let's hope they keep thinking that way.

I thought Liverpool were signing Cavanni or Lavezzi from PSG or Reus?

Swansea make offer for Benjamin Stambouli
According to our colleagues at RMC, Swansea City have made an offer for Montpellier defensive midfielder Benjamin Stambouli.

The Premier League side have made the player their number one priority in terms of a central midfielder and are also in talks with the player’s representatives, having expressed their intent to sign Stambouli.

Been trying to find out info on him as haven't seen him play before (at least not knowingly) and he's interesting.

23 yrs old, France u-21 international, played 93 games for Montpellier (so good experience for a youngster).

His main position is a defensive midfielder (attracted interest from Newcastle and Everton there) but has also played some football as a ball playing centre-back, only 5ft 11 though...sounds like he could have a stab at playing the Chico role if required.

There's also an article out there suggesting that Stoke were interested during a spell he had playing right wing back.

So as a DM who could conceivably do a job at CB & RB he'd be very useful and would stand a good chance of holding down a place somewhere.

Fiorentina are allegedly trying to sign him for €5/6m.

Monk did say he might move for another winger....

Scott Sinclair has admitted a desire to play more first team football may see him leave the Etihad with Swansea the current bookies’ favourites.

Manchester City could be set for another English departure after Scott Sinclair admitted he could depart the club in a bid to find more first team football in the Premier League.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, the 25-year-old admitted that he had reached a stage in his career where it was important to be playing week-in, week-out in the top flight.

"I'm just looking to play as many games as possible ... If the manager is going to give me game time, then I would love to stay," he told the news provider

"But if that's not the case I'm sure I'll have to go elsewhere and to play more."

The quotes have seen Swansea City emerge as the bookies’ favourites to sign the player, with Ladbrokes pricing the Welsh club at 11/4 to land Sinclair this summer.

But the Swans could yet face stiff competition for the midfielder, with Southampton second in the betting at 9/2.

The Saints are keen to recruit more players this summer following a busy couple of months which have seen key attacking players like Adam Lallana and Ricky Lambert depart the club.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, are third in the running at 4/1 with the bookmakers, as Paul Lambert aims to steer the Villans clear of relegation this term.

They could face some Midlands competition for their man too, with West Brom outsiders at 10/1 to land Sinclair.

The 25-year-old spent the latter half of last season on loan with the Baggies and while he struggled for form at the club, playing just 11 times, a change of manager could see West Brom renew their interest in the midfielder.

Alan Irvine was brought in this summer to replace Pepe Mel, after the Spaniard struggled during a short stint at the Hawthorns.

"The likes of Swansea and Fiorentina are locked in the battle for Montpellier midfielder Benjamin Stambouli, according to L’Equipe.

With his contract due to expire in a year’s time, the 23-year-old will be allowed to leave if a club meet the €5 million asking price.

According to L’Equipe, Premier League outfit Swansea have submitted an official offer for his services, while Fiorentina have reignited their interest as well.

Stambouli was in the starting line-up as Montpellier lost to Bordeaux on the opening day of the new season, but everything suggests he will be leaving la Paillade in the coming days.

The France Under-21 international already boasts a great deal of top flight experience, having featured in 111 Ligue 1 fixtures for the club.

And the fact he has already stated his preference for English Premier League is enough to suggest Swansea are in a good position to secure his signature."

    What's that, about £3.5 million?
I'd also take Scott Sinclair too if it was a loan deal. Would be cover on the wing or up front for Bony and Gomis.

€5m is £4m...'bout the same as the original deal proposed for Besic (interestingly he covers the exact same positions as Besic also).
So I'd guess he's second choice.

You never know until you've seen the player in the team for a while but on the face of it £4m seems like a reasonable price for a good, adaptable, young player with a good pedigree.
Right now I'd be pleased to see him sign.

Do you like the look of him in the videos Valley?

Don't think I'd go for Sinclair but it could work I suppose.

I know it's hard to judge looking at small clips, but he bloody looks like the real deal in this.

    Another alleged defensive target;

Fulham Transfer gossip: Fulham, Swansea, Crystal Palace and WBA linked with QPR man

    12/08/2014
    By West London Sport

Fulham, Crystal Palace, Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion are interested in QPR defender Nedum Onuoha, as are clubs in Turkey, Goal.com say.

It is claimed that Rangers boss Harry Redknapp wants to discuss a new contract for the 27-year-old but that Onuoha could look to move on amid ‘uncertainty’ over his role following the recent signings of Rio Ferdinand and Steven Caulker.

A source is quoted as saying: “Nedum is happy at QPR and figured prominently last season, but he won’t accept sitting on the bench this season, and he knows there is interest elsewhere.”

Three Italian clubs are rumoured to be preparing to table bids for Swansea City midfielder Josè Canas.

Swansea City's defensive midfielder Josè Canas could be headed for Italy if reports there are to be believed.

The 27-year-old is said to appeal to a trio of Serie A clubs who believe they can snap him up at a low price.

Canas joined Swansea in August last year after refusing to renew his contract at Spanish side Real Betis, where he had spent the rest of his career, working his way up from their C team.

After 23 appearances for the Welsh club, Canas is reportedly ready to find a fresh challenge and Serie A may appeal to him.

According to the latest reports in Italy, Atalanta, Sassuolo and Chievo are all keen on Canas and weighing up the possibility of bidding.

Bergamo-based club Atalanta are the biggest of the three and finished 11th last season, threatening to break into the European qualification zone before faltering in the latter stages.

Chievo and Sassuolo are minnows who will be looking simply to stay afloat this term. Sassuolo succeeded in staying up in their maiden top-flight campaign last year while tiny Veronese club Chievo are constantly tipped to go down but have established themselves amongst the elite.

However, Canas may prefer a return to Spain and Elche and Celta Vigo are known to be interested in his signature.

A CB short and no cover for Britton and never looked for cover for Britton .Canas was never going to be our best player but could have been an important one . Seriously bad planning .
