Who was the somebody at the club? No offence but I'd say his Father in Law might have a decent idea of what he earns.
I hope not. He's a giant sack of Cack! He fills me with no confidence. We should try for Hernandez. Could complement Jelavic better than Deeney
Wages are always reported differently depending on where you read/hear it. Some people guess, some people give the base wage pre-tax, some people give it post-tax, some people factor in various bonuses etc. We know he won't be on 100k and he won't be on 15k. Anywhere 45k - 55k is probably about there.
Long's on £45k a week + bonuses and as he's in the starting XI, he'll easily be topping £50k a week.
You see I really dont see that as sustainable and our accounts back that up. Maybe 1 player in the entire squad could be but not him, Jelly and whatever THudd and Jake are on. Ince wouldnt have signed for peanuts either. I think if Long goes he'll be replaced by a much cheaper option and I actually am not against that. People soon forgot what it was like last time we got relegated, we really should be showing some lessons learned.
I wouldn't mind him either but can't see it happening, he sounded blissfully happy at Ewood Park last month when he signed a new 5 year contract.
Good point, I'd have hoped we have relegation clauses in place this time around. That'd make sense. I was only told some of the basic wages, not including contractual stuff. Well maybe, but it was only what they earned as a base rate, not including all the add ons, that I was talking about.
I think Crab is right, we may be seeing a cheaper option come in rather than the 'blow your socks off' signing a lot of us are hoping for.
But even if it is a cheaper option, Im sure Bruce has a plan in place I just hope we see some news as quickly as possible regarding a replacement. Hopefully before Saturday. In the meantime, I think we have more than capable replacements in the team already.
I'm actually wondering if we'll sign anyone. With the purchases of Ince and Snodgrass we all mused how they would fit in with 2 strikers. This, coupled with the fact we were accused quite a lot of being niaive last season when playing 2 strikers and I cant help but think we'll have Snoddy / Brady playing behind Jelly / Sagbo.
Not a suggestion just a name who's likely to be available within what we can afford. I've already said my preferred option is Hernandez if it was possible
Who's that lightning fast Egyptian lad Chelsea signed from Basel? Salah? Great pace and finisher... seems a bit of a back up for them. I'd be ecstatic if we managed to get him in, wether that be on a cheeky permanent or on loan for the season.
