http://www.southwales-eveningpost.co.uk/Swansea-City-set-ve-got-Manchester-United/story-22711298-detail/story.html? Today 'Swansea are in talks with Napoli over centre-back Federico Fernandez and, while a deal is possible, no fee has yet been agreed.' Ugh!
You'd have thought that somebody with as much egg on their face as you would have learned some humility by now I believe the score is about 11-nil in my favour
Re: Fernandez negotiations It is a lot of money. Might be some cash flow issues rather than a question of ability to afford him or trying to knock some money off (I'm sure the wages have gone up by a significant amount this summer)....let's hope they agree to receiving the fee in the installments we can manage.
Even if a deal is done we wont see much of him in the first few games. According to reports he has only just returned to training. Although he has tweeted pics of himself on a yacht in Capri. So he doesn't seem to be in that much of a rush to pack his bags (unless of course he is planning on sailing straight to the Marina).
Fernandez is on a yacht in Capri according to his twitter page,so he's not likely to come until,or if ever,a deal is sorted out,and even then he is not match fit. It was unfortunate that Chico went just before season start. All of ML's signings have now either left or are on the point of leaving,so it looks as if we've wiped the slate clean of them,Amat being the exception, for now.
Is the failure to sort out the financial arrangements with Napoli the first knock on effect of our dispute with Utrecht.
It shouldn't be, because when we look at what we have spent and brought in through selling players, we haven't spent a penny. I'd have thought we could afford to pay the fee in one instalment by now, given the increase in PL funding and tv deals etc.
Following our experiences in Naples last season I wouldn't trust their club mafia with anything. That said, my money is on us wanting to pay so much this season and then settling the account if / when they take Michu. As Napoli are reported as having cash problems themselves, I can see the sense of not giving them our player and £8 mn as they would hold ll the aces.
The picture posted yesterday by Fernandez on his yacht in Capri is not the action of a man keen to sort out his future. Can see why the board are getting cold feet over this.
Wont lose to much sleep if this geal doesnt re materialize . Its a lot of money . Ready to give Amat and Bartley a half season to make it there job .
Amat and Bartley way short of the standard needed. I would be extremely fearful relying on them for half of September let alone half a season.
UPDATE! W.O.L: Swansea City are set to complete the long-awaited transfer of Argentinian centre-half Federico Fernandez ahead of Saturday's Premier League opener with Manchester United. Garry Monk has agreed an £8m deal for the Napoli man though contrary to this Mail report, our man Chris Wathan says there's no hold up on the deal due to work permit problems.
When it seems you have unripe lemons you make the best lemonade you can . Bartley and Amat have never seen a run of games to really see capabilites.. Good a time as any if we come up empty on the transfer market . We are in a situation where no matter who comes in , were overpaying. Bit worrying it came to this with the window slowly closing .
