I heard it is Dawson that we'll be announcing today, not a striker, don't know if it has legs though.
It's all about the response now isn't it. How do we proceed? His replacement will dictate whether or not this will eventually be seen as a good decision.
Danny ings was saints primary target but Burnley wouldn't sell. If this £12.5m could get us Ings, Saints would just have bought him in the first place.
Last week someone posted on a Sunderland board that we'd received an offer for Long from Southampton and it was in excess of £10m. If someone on a Sunderland message board knew about this, I'm pretty sure we did. I don't think we're letting a starting striker leave the week the season starts without something else lined up.
On Twitter, non-hull city fans think we're on to a winner. Unless Shane himself pushed through the transfer I think Bruce has a plan B. I don't for a second think AA decided this alone, they've clearly not had a winter or summer where they're trying to save money on transfers. Ince looks like he could do a job up front. I really enjoyed watching Long play but Jela is the better finisher and Longs record really is quite poor. I'm worried though that around £10mil is the new £7.5mil and we've actually on really made a small profit as most player prices are hyper inflated this summer. Also, the timing truly sucks but it stinks of it being Southampton's plan C.
Well looks pretty certain he's going which in isolation is a shame to my mind as I rate him. If he wants to go this seems like a good price and no point keeping someone who wants to go. We do seem to have players who will player a similar role now and I for one am struggling to see how they will all fit in our team (not a bad problem to have). Nearly 20 days of the transfer window to go and to my mind only then can we judge how this effects the team as the money might not just effect any direct replacements but others too. We will see.
Connor Wickham spotted in Willerby. #RumourMill But seriously my mate reckons he's seen him in a red Ferrari
Oh I get that we have known for a week and had time to plan. What I mean is we haven't been in control, planned to get someone else, then off loaded him. I reckon we have been surprised by it and now have to chase to resolve things. Hence my comment we didn't have a plan B being more about who is on control. I think our plan B is enforced, rather than something we have been preparing. I don't think anyone is daft enough to accept an offer immediately and sure the club have sat on this for a while. People still saying Remy! Oh dear. I can only see Wickham, Borini, and Bendtner as options and not sure which is best. We do need someone badly now.
Just seen someone on Twitter, asking Southampton if they'd be interested in replacing Shaw with Figueroa for £17m. Also, someone suggesting that for £12.5m, they really should be expecting to sign Shane Extralong.
