What a complete waste of time and money to such an inept performance. Christ almighty, Sheff U must be truly abysmal for us to have beaten them. If Jet ever gets a start again, I will demand a refund on my season ticket. Any optimism has been well an truly erased from my mind.
I dont care about the LC. It's only ever worthwhile if you can get to a much later round (fat chance for us !!!), and even that depends on who you draw, but after the monumental win at Bramall Lane this was probably a good reality check for the Manager and squad in time for Saturdays visit of Colchester. JET can go as far as I'm concerned, he's still the luxury player that a 3rd division team like us, who need consistent performers to get anywhere, can ill afford. The fact that SC preferred Wibraham on Saturday speaks volmes that the Manager doesnt rate/want him either, or views him the same way. I thought JET looked totally disinterested on Saturday when he came on for Baldock and his play was no better. Totally oblivious to what was going on around him.
It was like a morgue not because of the now gone East end, but because of a totally unacceptable performance by City. Promotion? No, another wasted year!
Some of you are quite funny, just slightly over reaction maybe?! on one hand after one game we have those saying we will win the league etc and then after a game, where we fielded half a side in a cup we hardly ever get past the 1st round, "we're gonna have a wasted year"... Calm down.....lets just see where we are in another 10 games before making rash statements!
A lot of the players that featured last night will be needed during the season, if only to act as squad players.-Its a bit worrying when only a small number seem to have taken that opportunity by the horns. After such a good start Saturday, we appear to go back into shat mode again- We have been here before, so lets just hope it is the kick up the backside ahead of two very important home games.
I couldn't agree more.. We are laughing at the Sags for doing this, yet some of our posters are worse..!
Yes, we will need the players used last night during the season but not 8 at a time hopefully. The league has to be our priority and although a disappointing result, at least the 8 got some game time. They will need it to be ready to fill in when needed.
One poster got excited. But last year SoD was going to walk on water and take us to the prem and the year before we were dark horses so I don't think you can class a forum based on him.
On monday I watched a City coach with an academy side getting eleven year olds to build from the back and zip the ball about through the thirds. I wonder what City coaches, Tinnion. and Anton etc think when they see El Abd. He appears to be unable to play v defend [often poorly] and whoosh.
Once again Fielding was poor last night.. Not at fault for the goals, but distribution, controlling the box and coming out for crosses was once again sub standard. I can't stress enough how important it is to bring in a goalkeeper for our apparent promotion push, we need a 6 ft 4 goalkeeper..
I said it over a year ago Onefor Its the psychology thing with the Pisspot Cup - the players know the Lord Major's Show is over 'til Saturday, and an early lead didn't help. They probably thought 3-0 and home and dry. Its a little like that with JET isn't it. Last season was his best ever, and his reward ? Lots of new signings which means he will spend a lot of time on the bench. That is a dangerous situation because that f**ed off attitude can spread. I think Cotts and JET will be having a little chat, and the outcome of that could be Jay's exit (or Jay's resurgence). For the rest, expect to see Messr's Smith, Freeman, Wilbraham, Elliott and Little re-asserting our promotion credentials against Colchester
I purposely didn't make many comments after our famous victory against Sheffield United because I knew this would be coming. Even against Sheffield United, I don't think we were as great as a lot of people on here believed we were. Yes, we won, but in my opinion Sheffield United were hard done by to not get a point from that game. We were much better than we were at times last season, but we still make numerous mistakes and despite having a number of other players on board we're still weak in certain areas. In my mind, JET isn't a forward. He's tried there numerous times and he's failed. I would much rather see him play as a central midfielder because he loves to hold the ball up, and by moving him into the centre of the pitch he can work on his distribution. Anyway, rant over. Hopefully we'll see some more grounded comments on here after our yearly ass-kicking in the cup.
If it is me that got over excited then I am guilty as charged. I cannot understand how any team we put out can perform so ineptly and apparently without any pride in their performance. Any performer be it sportsman or any other type of entertainment must always strive to peak performance. Otherwise they are cheating not only the paying customers but more importantly themselves. And if the Club treated this as a public practice match, they have taken our money under false pretences. I want to be proud of our team every time they play. Win, lose or draw!
for me JET would be best suited behind willbs and baldock, however his lack of running and commitment will not allow this to happen. Personally think JET is on borrowed time on his two performances this season.
It ain't you he is having a dig at,it is me. Remember only three started from Saturday.this team will pick itself this Saturday.
Mr Cotterill sent out a XI last night as a experiment. It looked like a experiment and played like one that hopefully will not be ever seen again. Four of the eleven at least could not be realistically expected to play as the "team shape" suggested tbey would need to. Baldock and Jet are not suited to chasing hoofs, El Abd is no libero, Wagstaff is no play maker and on that goes. The zonal marking has to be ditched. The players clearly are not at ease with this. Two games have led to chances and goals because of this zonal change. V Sheffield the players were flat footed holding hands in a line v on their toes in starting positions to attack the ball in their zones !!! Saturday will be the full XI and no square pegs in round holes. No excuses.
Yeah I think he's on borrowed time as well, but I wouldn't drop Freeman to play him in behind the front two so he's either going to be off soon or get used to being an impact sub. The midfield is something we have a good balance and will improve in time. My three midfielders would always be Elliott Smith and Freeman with Little and Cunningham on either side of them if a 3-5-2 formation or if 4-4-2 then it should be Little - Smith - Elliott - Freeman. I know little is more suited as a wingback but if pressed he could play out and out winger. Mind you that's based on ONE game so I could be talking complete bollocks.
