I really hope this is true and not just an agreement 'in principle' which leads nowhere. Moreno is my first choice LB, just ahead of Rodriguez (Swiss) and way ahead of Rojo (Argie). I was really looking forward to the prospect of seeing Moreno link up, on the left, with Shaquiri, but that exciting dream has faded somewhat, recently.
i guess this means there is some international clearance to attend to plus medical but everything else is done
IMO he is first choice right back but doubt Brod thinks the same. It does mean we have much needed competition in the fb positions... Right Flanno Mankiller Johnson Wisdom Left Enrique Moreno Flanno Johnson PS...that's in my preferred order
Our 2 new singings bring so much to the list. Our FB situation is good, good players, plenty of depth, something we've missed for a good few years.
I'd probably swap your 1st choice and 2nd choice people around on both wings. Manquillo looked fantastic in his last game. You should never judge from one game, I know, but it was the most assured RB performance I've seen in a long, long time. P.S. Isn't Wisdom at West Brom this year?
Personally I hope it ends up with both our new signings as our first choice FB's. Unless Mankini just had a one off brilliant game (time will tell) but he looked very good indeed. I agree with CCC it's one of the best RB performances I've seen for a while, obviously the PL is a different beast, I just think he'll cope fine and be a very good RB. But to now have these choices is so positive
A shame, but the injury ruined him. He could have been an excellent player - I really hope he does well at Palace. To be blunt though - he's not at the level required, simple as that.
Why is everyone putting Mankiller ahead of Flanno after one game? Did you guys not watch him last season. The guy was top drawer.
That's actually true. A good old school defender. My only gripe is he doesn't get forward enough, I like the idea of attacking wingbacks. But yeah Mankini will definately have to earn his place, which won't be easy.
It's about balance though. A very attacking LB with a more solid RB. Means we don't have both bombing on at same time leaving us short. Also Flanno won't bomb forward n whip in crosses but his passing has improved 10 fold in last year. When he's on the ball he'll find a forward pass, and he'll play it accurately and quickly. His accuracy stats were up there with the best defenders and this helps the attacks by keeping possession upfield.
Can see Johnson being first pick still. He's been available for buyers for the last year now but no serious takers (probably because of his wages). Unfortunately, I don't think BR can justify to the board having a 100k a week RB sitting on the bench or not in the match day squad, so he'll play whenever fit.
